Road Runner Double Bass Gig bag; any experience?

You could make the argument that the $200 investment is saving your basses from excessive and far more costly damage, plus you’ll be out the door faster by only having to make one trip to your car. Cases last a very, very long time. Basses with their neck snapped generally don’t!
I'd like to know what the heck you guys are doing with your basses that they aren't safe in a bag with reasonable but minimal padding. I guess I could understand if you're flying or sticking your basses in a trailer with PA, drums and amps and stuff. But if you're carrying them in a trailer with a bunch of other heavy gear, why use a gig bag in the first place? I could use a $15 special while traveling to gigs in my car or van and never put a scratch on my bass.

I think this thread was about traveling with a bass that you had possession of at all times. If I had to store it anywhere else that involved equipment I wasn’t in control of, then I’d use a hard case without question.

Exactly this. We put everything except for our guitars/bass in the trailer when we go to gigs. We put those in the back of the vehicle we drive. Back when I was doing weekend runs between 3-4 cities, we would just put everything in the trailer in hard shells.

Does anyone have any experience with this bag (Road Runner Double Bass Gig Bag)? All of my basses have angled headstocks, so this concerns me a bit...

Road Runner Black | Guitar Center

I’ve been trying to find one of these because it fits in my vault for travel. Oddly enough, people kept saying that these aren’t used by pros but it was a pro player who recommended this for me for my bass vault. I think pros use whatever is best for their purposes.

If anyone has one of these for sale, I’d be VERY interested.

It's too bad that RoadRunner seems to not make these any more. I still use mine almost 5 yrs later for every outing, practice or gigs.

It seems like the only equivalent that is around now for a reasonable price is this Gator bag or "World Tour Pro".

I have this exact Road Runner bag and have had zero issues with it. I used it exclusively for about a year carrying two basses at all times and it’s held up great. Even got sent off a four foot tall stage with my LTD Surveyor in it and the bass took no damage. For local gigs where it’s not getting tossed in a trailer among other gear it’s great and a solid bang for the buck. I’ve got hard cases for out of town travel with lots of gear but this bag still gets a lot of use. I’d recommend it.
