And while you could get this basic sound with many different sets of Stainless steels, none are gonna sound quite like this except the Rotosounds.

Now I use DR Strings Stainless.

Roto 66s sound amazing IMO. And they're pretty inexpensive too - the 35-90 set is only 15 euro or so.

Yes they are great strings.

Btw I have some for sale in the classifieds. I swiched to 5 string so i dont need 4 sets.

My usual favorite as well. Although I am curious about DR strings. I tried some Hi Beams awhile ago and honestly don't remember what they were like.

I've see this thrown around again and again but has anyone claimed anything to the contrary? Doesn't seem reasonable when you consider almost every string manufacturer offers at least a few stainless sets...

Waits with interest. Lol. Been thinking about ordering some more strings since I like to have couple pairs for each bass onhand and just 1 each backstock now. Lol. Prob rotosound swing66 if doesnt get more neons this time though.

Yeah... He does have a point. My .45-105 set seems to lose a lot of definition when dropped lower than Eb.

Or it might be the big overdriven Ampeg rig coupled with the Rotos plus the super-aggressive, yet warm P/J bass Frank Bello uses.

Nothing sounds like a Rotosounds. I've tried I don't how many different sets of string on all kinds of different basses. The DR's were good but the Roto's to my ear just have that grind that I can never seem to get out of any other string. The downside is that they are abit hard on frets, alittle buzzy and I can kill a set of these pretty quick, but I don't care. They just sound that good.

AFAIK no other SS string uses a monel alloy like they do. You can hear the metallic clang in the overtones, unlike the brightness in other stainless rounds.

I use other rounds but when I put these on a bass I always get a thrill when I hear that old Roto clank and grind.
