Robert Trujillo buys the "bass of doom"

in fact I read somewhere on TB that if Hetfield can "hear" any bass he tells him to turn it down.

NO NO NO NO!!!!

The guy who mentioned what you read on that thread had wrongly interpreted a Bass Player Mag interview. I'd pointed that out in that thread itself.

Trujillo was mentioning that turning the bass down if he heard it was probably the way Hetfield behaved in the Newsted days.

at first i was pleased that he was buying it to keep it out of the legal nonsence and to eventually return it to the family..

but like.. come on. metallica tunes on it? like..really? metallica? like..honestly?

id rather hear someone like richie bona, or even victor, gigging on it. someone whos got a nice fretless touch. not someone whos gonna distort the thing all night. (well..jaco did that too..)

It gets worse, though. Metallica had their attorneys work in a clause that allows Mark Hoppus and Fieldy access to the vault the 5th Thursday of any month that has one. The month of July isn't looking too good for the Bass of Doom.

It's just an instrument really it shouldn't matter what he plays on it would people be as upset if they found out some dude was playing country on cliffs ric

Hey, not only did that son of a b**** from Metallica refinish that bass, but it looks like the ba***rd yanked the frets out and slopped some sort of epoxy on the board.

oooh... if I ever run into that guy....
