This is a pretty general bio, but there is so little Robert Wilson specific material, I decided to share it. The best analysis of Robert Wilson’s playing I know of was a video PDbass did a few years ago. To me Robert Wilson is a bit tragic because he was so creative, but bass synth really limited his opportunities to shine. Despite his limited exposure, Andrew Gouche and Victor Wooten mention Robert Wilson as an influence.

Fellow Tulsan Leon Russell was their gateway to bigger things(their first album released on his Shelter label in 1974), plus he utilized them in his own projects…

I even saw them opening for the Rolling Stones in 1975, at an all-day stadium show also including Rufus/Chaka Khan, and the Eagles.

For a guy who played with his thumb, he was very efficient with his playing. Solid groove and zero overplaying. He was good.

I still have one, I don’t ditch technology, but haven’t fired it up in years. I have just a handful of rare pieces of vinyl, having gotten rid of the vast amount a few years back. Walls of CD’s, though. They ain’t going anywhere. I like things.

Streaming and such has destroyed the value of music.
