Robot Factory Meatball clone

I am sooo happy to have stumbled across this on here and ebay. I friended you on myspace a looooooong time ago asking about a meatball clone and at the time I don't think you had any. Definitely going to go for one of these in the near future.

All I need now is an Akai Deep Impact and my Mike Gordon clone-rig will be near complete :)

Thanks for the clips prsbass.

I think I preferred the clips of the mutron, but that may be because you seemed to cycle through a lot of different tones while playing, and the Meatwad tone you were using wasn't the one I have in my head. I'm looking for much more of a "BWWWOOOW" than "BWACK" if that translates at all, not having a strong working grasp of the Q parameter names.

You mentioned that you dialed in just the tone you were looking for, and that its versatile, how close does it come IYO to duplicating the MuTron, or are they really different beasts?

BTW, I was recording bass tracks all weekend, and absolutely fell in love again with my Psilocybe. It sounds a little subtle sometimes because it's so transparent but when actually hearing the playback I was amazed at how wet a sound I was getting.

Depending on the bass I can get very close to the mu-tron but if you want the mu-tron tone exactly you'll have to pony up and shell out the doe. I decided to keep the clone and turn the mu-tron for a few reasons.
The clone is smaller
the clone costs less
the clone is more versatile
the mu-tron is vintage and has the quirks of vintage gear (pops when switching and etc)
the mu-tron isn't true bypass so it has to be accompanied by a loop pedal or you will lose volume and tone.
If the mu-tron gets damaged during a show that would suck, if the clone gets damaged I'd just get another or have it fixed.

I think it's all about what's important to you.

Now I tend to like the tone from the Mu-tron a lot but I'm happy with the tone from the clone and the other benefits the come with it.

If I owned a recording studio I'd own both.

Finally, someone who can play a bass....:^)

thanks PRS, sounds great. I heard some bwwwowww myself, but longer attack time should get you more of that....
(for the Bwwoww guy....)

If you have no objections, I may tack this on the next one to go on Ebay.....(the one that was listed sold this morning...)

Nice POG show too, by the way.............

Thanks again!

Mario

I've just got mine yesteday.
Mario is a genius.
Sounds better than the Meatball (intensity and resonance are easier to tweak).
I already owned, Q-TRON+, Meatball, T-Wah, Agent 00Funk, MXR Bass Auto Q, Line 6 Otto-Filter, Ebs Bass IQ, DOD FX25, Digitech Bass synth.
It's the best enveloppe filter for me.
It works great with active/passive bass and guitar.

On placement...............

Unless you are triggering from a separate source (like a buffered version of your clean from the top of your chain) most octave/ fuzz circuits will mostly or entirely remove your amplitude envelope, rendering ANY voltage following effect pretty much useless. (that is what the effect loop is there for...................)

I had a guy who told me his MeatWad wouldn't sweep at all, and after 6-8 messages back and forth, told me he was running through a compressor first:rollno:

The closer to the front of your chain, the better it will 'follow' your playing dynamics................remove the dynamics, and there is nothing to follow...........
