Putting a compressor before a filter is one thing you will never catch me doing

On the other hand though, my filters ALWAYS go after gain pedals, as I've never had any problem with the filter not opening. As far as I'm concerned, just tune the sensitivity of the filter, and the output level of the gain, so that it triggers the filter, without there being a massive volume jump. I've never had any trouble running filters and fuzzes/octaves in this way.

Yeah, it will depend on HOW clipped your fuzz signal is. I would guess that you guys squash less than we do in the guitar world, but either way, you will get more response with a clean signal than a clipped one. A jacked Big Muff will leave precious little envelope to follow.....

(you guys probably clean blend your fuzz huh? that would help...)

That is actually a question. Do most of you blend clean/ use fuzz/dist/gain effects that have a mix / blend feature?

Fuzzes with gates on them seem to work very well with envelope filters too. The Brown Dog and Agent 00Funk are a good example of this. I tried them both in and out of the loop kind of function and it worked well on either.

I've recently ordered one of these and can't wait to get my mitts on it. However, Mario has emailed me to ask if I want some kind of volume mod added to it as somebody had issues with drops in volume. I'm not that tecky but Mario advised he believes it's not necessary and explained that it had something to do with using the Band Pass mode with no clean blend - can someone advise what this means so I can figure out if I need the mod or not?

You'll most probably only use the filter in Low Pass mode, as that is the setting which doesn't lose any bass frequencies, and if you're in Band Pass mode, chances are you WILL want to use the clean blend, as the Band Pass mode will lose all your low end. I personally wouldn't go for the mod.

A clean blend is certainly a useful feature with bass - as most fuzzes/distortions (and to a lesser extent overdrives) will rob the low end. There are a few pedals that do it without one - The Tonebender for example.

Back from the dead...

I recently picked up a Meatwad and it's a deep pedal with lots of layers. Mine has an active boost mod as well as a volume control.

What settings you all use on your Meatwads? I'm experimenting with it and getting some good results (the exp pedal input really makes this pedal shine), but I know some of you have a couple of years' head start and I'd like to be brought up to speed with any tips or tricks that work for you.

Anyone?
