If you watch the rest of that instructional video he actually demonstrates his very hard touch. Medium to high action and a hard pluck is how he gets his tone.
I know thats his style on a usual basis, but on this video he really blew my mind. I had no idea he could play like that.
Rocco blows my mind every time I hear him! What an inspiration he is. I never get tired of listening to his funky style.
I bought that video last year. Good instruction, but what stinks is that they don't sell it on DVD, just VHS.
The Slap Bass video (best instructional vid on the subject IMO) is now available on DVD so I'm guessing that the Rocco vid will be too.
I've been waiting for that to happen before I buy it. They also told me when I emailed them quite a while ago that all the video would eventually be available as a download. I'm supposed to get a email notification when that happens.
