Every Picture... was the 1st Rod Stewart album I had; I recall then going back & buying The Rod Stewart Album & Gasoline Alley on the same day. I was more than a little bummed 'cause I wanted more of "I Know I'm Losing You" (a Faces' vibe).
Long after, I came to appreciate these 2 early Stewart releases...
Jay Davis also played bass for Rod at one point (at least live). Warning: Rod is sporting leopard print spandex in this clip.

Old thread but Ron Wood was a great bass player and had a really good sound, he played on all or most of the Jeff Beck Group stuff when Rod was Jeff's singer, he used a Telecaster bass, Marshall Major amp and used Rotosound strings very early on with a pick, the world lost a great bass player when he switched to guitar, his bass roared:
