I'm over 2 years off the cable/sattelite train.
Pros;
$20 internet access. That's it. No other entertainment expenses involved. The massive savings have easily paid for the three Roku boxes and antennas (one for each tv)
YouTube and the free options are enough. Ive thought about Hulu, Netflix, sling or others, but have broken the habit of watching that much tv. One day I will get back to it. There will be soooooo many movies and shows to watch due to my lack of either for so long it will bw worth it.
More stuff gets done, man...
Cons:
I do miss the binging and a few shows on occasion.
Movie selection on the free channels is a bit outdated and rarely big-budget or blockbuster
Yeah, live sports. I'm not much of a sports guy, but when I do want to watch a game, I'm limited to local broadcast options... So no Monday NFL, and no choices in which teams I can follow in any league. Not a big "con", but does affect my budget going to the corner dive for games
The lure of commercial free programming contributed. BS. All the free stuff is loaded with ads, and usually the same two or three for the entire movie, often repeated consecutively in the same break.
Overall I have to say win for the budget, and contributing for forcing me to be more active and productive, less sedentary and more conscious about how much time I spend in front of the screen.
