That doesn't make sense, how can the music be fine if its the actual bill evans trio, but the exact same music not be fine if its not the bill evans trio.
I took it to mean that they should be past that insead of doing the same thing if it was a modern trio.
Note choice, placement, rhythm, concept and taste all in one place.

Dave is also a supreme master of music, just gifted in different ways. Still, why compare the two?
Let them both express their beliefs without judging them.
Anyone who attains that level of musical insight by necessity has very high standards; probably higher for themselves than for others.
BTW, Ron gave me a set of his strings once, NIB, and that's where they will stay...
