You dont have to remove cards to transfer files with most field recorders..
I also have what you would call a "proper interface"
It's a lot of work, and an attention sucker to even have a computer running audio in a room of musicians. A band rehearsal or jam should be mainly about just that, and not thinking about what is on a computer screen, and if is everything is working right, and "hold on everybody until I get all the mics, cords, stands, headphones, laptop, an extra table (and whatever else) set up"
but, if you want more mics, the recorder can do that too.
I believe that tech (especially computer screens that turn music into math and science right in your face) hurts mojo, so having all tech as unobtrusive as possible brings out the best in creatives.
Or to put it another way, Every second that a musician is thinking about tech, is a second that they are distracted from the song.
