THIS, and the recessed knobs, and the Mother Of Pearl (abalone) 12th fret thingy.
Anything else is just not Signature enough for me.
The recessed knobs is relatively new. I believe my old fretless LG (*the* fretless LG) was the first one with them. I asked Gard when I recieved it about them and he said "We're trying something new"

The Cocobolo was the best Roscoe the ever owned.
When Joe set it up it had stupid low action and nary a buzz anywhere.

Beautiful Roscoe. Such balanced wood tones.
Would love to see Roscoe make some basses with their soapbars in a more traditional position. I finally got my hands on a set of Roscoe Barts and put them in my bass...passive...Sounds crazy good. The Roscoe pickup position is super cool, but could be great to see them do a few basses with the pickups further from the bridge

$$$ talks. They’ve made some in the past, but they’re all ordered that way. Being as they are pretty much built to order, that’d be the way to go.
That's a beautiful 6 bass. Glad to hear that the Roscoe Barts please you wired in passive mode, and in those locations. Kudos for venturing to check those pickups out, and then sharing your experience with us.
Pickup locations are definitely a personal preference for many. My favorite sounds have always come from basses with bridge-dominant pickup locations, through my experience of playing Warwick Thumb, Ken Smith, Spector, and Roscoe. I'd also like to try the MTD Super 5 bass, with its bridge oriented positioning.
You have a a cool looking headless on your media page with near-bridge pickup locations (similar to JB spacing, which is also bridge location variable for the pair). That looks like it would be fun to play and hear. How does/did it sound?
If I were to commission a Roscoe, the Roscoe Bart bridge pickup would be just .5" from the bridge plate, with only about 1" or so between pickups. These locations reflect my personal tradition and preference, which vary substantially from "popular" tradition of Fender Jazz standard locations. IMO, the right pickup location is based on specific player preference, reflecting chosen colors to enjoy from the tonal rainbow. From that view, there are no wrong answers.

I remember seeing a bass with pups not mounted in fixed positions but were on a platform/rail system that allowed the pups to be positioned in various configurations between the bridge and the neck.
I think Ovation made a bass like that for a while. Pickup on rails - literally. Couldn’t find a picture.
That's not my bass. Forgot there is a media page. That was just the first headless Roscoe that I saw. Amazing looking basses.
I kinda like the movable pickup idea. Switching from 60’s to 70’s sound on a single custom Jazz passive bass when the need arises just makes sense.
Just think. One less bass to carry to the gig. Saving a lot of money by not buying a second bass just to get that other decade’s sound. Only need one set of flat strings, one bass strap, and just one single gig bag.

Cool Fritz, but the movable pups still gives even greater sound options over fixed pups. I can certainly see the intrigue.
