OK- Then I'm not sure WHY I do not like the d'addario strings.... so I will put the DR Pure Blues because I am familiar with them and find that they work well with most of my basses . I hope that clears up the technical decisions haha

Speaking of strings, I prefer stainless steels over nickels. Thinking of swapping the stock nickels on my Roscoes. I’m familiar with Hi Beams. Anyone know how Prosteels compare?

That Roscoe headless is sweet. I've seen one with a Century body but I rather like that smaller SKB body.

Im in the same boat. I do not like the factory provided D’Addario’s either. I’ll be providing Keith with the same DR Pure Blues on my new LG once it is ready.

To keep the like/hate/undecided about bass strings topic going, I’ve tried Hybrid bass strings (040-125) and I really like them.
Anyone else tried a set and like them?

Haven’t tried the Hybrids. Tried some Fodera Nickels and didn’t care for them. I do like Dunlop Super Bright Nickels. Thanks to @Joe BassPlayer or I may have never tried them. DR Low Riders are another favorite of mine.

(okay, disclaimer, I'm not a Roscoe owner, I have a friend with a gorgeous Roscoe Custom, so I follow the Roscoe page....)

I use the Pro steels on my basses. I like them because they are bright, but also because they have a certain mid/warm character to them that I don't usually hear with stainless steel strings.

There's something pretty special about the D'addario NYXLs, too. I'm really enjoying a set of those that I just put on one of my basses. They are kinda pricey, though. Gonna see how they play out, as it were....

(the friend that I mentioned earlier informed me a few months ago that he's lost the desire to play bass any more, even at church which is where we met. And I really hate that! However, he's offered to let me hold on to his Roscoe so it will get some use. I've played it, but he strings it with very light strings, so I couldn't really get the feel of it. But he tells me than I can set it up however I like if I decided to hold on to it. I have 4 basses that I can hardly put time on all of them now, but I'm tempted...really tempted....)

@Geri O, that’s a great opportunity to get to play a Roscoe on a regular bases, and certainly one to not take advantage of.
Who knows, your friend just might forget where he put that bass and forget all about it. IJS

LOL, one can hope, right?....

No, we meet for lunch a time or two every month, so he'd be reminded regularly. And he's mentioned selling it, but I've told him to really hold off on that notion for a while, or at least until he's sick of me chiding him about it...

i have those on my fretless SKB 6 and had to back the truss rod off completely loose.
works good here, tho, and i'm able to make fine adjustment with the saddle height screws...

Curious to hear your results. I’ve been VERY tempted to put these on my Century 5 PJ. My guts tells me these would work well with the Aggie Pups and preamp.

I don’t care for those strings! Tried them on a fretless & fretted bass. I ended up selling the basses with the strings on them.

Ops! I forgot to mention that it wasn’t because of their sound, but seems my fingers sweat just enough to make those strings too tacky for my playing.
I ended up getting and liking LaBella coated flats.
