Also worry about the car freezing up driving in the bitter cold.

I recall having to get engine block heaters installed and plugged into an AC outlet to keep the engine and oil from freezing up, as well as, a space heater placed under the hood and directed toward the battery to keep it from freezing, too.
I had a generator to go south on me during the winter and had to get to the junk yard 20 miles from the base toward Fargo to get a rebuilt one. That was not fun! But the junk yard was cool because it had all kinds of old vehicles on it and most weren’t even rust buckets due to the cold air and the fact that no salts were used on the roads to clear them from ice.
There were two rules:
1) Don’t leave a stranded traveler on the roads.
2) Don’t travel during white out storms, else you are on your own.

Yeah, I don’t think too many people look forward to being stationed at GFAFB, but I think the community is very welcoming. I’ve played gigs at the base for a formal gathering/dance and the 4th of July. Nice people out there.

My first bass was a used Fender Precision. My parents bought it and a new Fender Bassman amp for me in 1958. I was 14. They paid $385 for the bass and amp and that was a lot of money to spend on a kid that wanted to play bass. They were very good to me.

+1. We were supposed to have a clothes dryer delivered today but decided to postpone it until next week due to the weather. Rain, freezing rain, and snow followed by a flash freeze are predicted.

OK, it’s not as exciting as a Roscoe but you get the idea!

I don’t know how you guys deal with the kind of cold that I’m seeing on the Weather Channel! That’s just crazy weather!
It’s really a bummer that it’s peaking on the Christmas weekend when so many plan to travel to be with family over the holidays.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!

We are going to have a brutal Christmas weekend here in southern AZ also. Highs around 70 degrees...

Sorry, you can make fun of our weather in the summer. Prayers for all in the cold weather.
