Well I’ve reduced my Roscoe number down to 5 with one on the way. I’d really like to get down to 4 max but that’s gonna be hard. However with each one I part with, it becomes easier to see myself parting with the next one. With the flow of new Roscoes flowing reduced to a trickle, the used market seems to have warmed up a good bit. I know I’ll regret not hoarding my gaggle in the future, but these beauties need to be played and you can only play one at a time.

I've still never sold a bass, so my collection is definitely out of hand. Once I finally sell the first one and get over the hurdle of the logistics, I'll probably sell about half of them. But I'm in no hurry. Since they do gradually appreciate in value, it might make sense for me to just wait until I'm retired to start selling.

Not sure how you guys do it. I've had as many as 3 Roscoe's at one time but I ended up just primarily playing the same one (my favorite) and a fretless (as needed). I tried to diversify my Roscoe collection (Soap Bars, JJ and JM) but they still tended to have that Roscoe flavor (sound). I eventually found that I got a broader sound variation from maintaining 5-6 basses of different brands.
And yeah, I know. That's Roscoe heresy in this thread!:)

Morning vibes. . On the fence about selling.
My headless Roscoe 5 is one of my all-time faves, being a super-smart, well-executed, and tone-full design. And, yours is such a stunning bass. .

Congratulations Steve, I am sure your wait will be worth it.

I love my Roscoe basses and have fretted/fretless 6's and a fretted 5. I also own and use a Modulus Q6 and a G. Gould ggi6. Lately the Roscoe SKB fretted 6 has been getting most of the play time. I typically play one of the graphite necked basses on outside gigs.

I also have a G&L Kiloton 5, a Peavey Cirrus 5 and a Peavey Forum passive P/J bass. All of them are really fine instruments but this trio mostly sits in the bedroom where my basses are kept. I still can't bring myself to sell them. The Kiloton is a superb example of bass building and is as close to perfect as you could want....materials and workmanship are fantastic. It is a very interesting sounding bass and I do need to play it on some gigs. The Cirrus 5 is the best playing/sounding out of the Cirrus basses that I have owned (about 12). The little Forum is a fantastic 4. It plays and sounds fantastic and I bought it off Facebook Marketplace for $100 and it came with a Peavey guitar amp to boot.

That said, I could be completely happy if I only owned the Roscoe basses. They do everything I need and sound and look wonderful too.

I tried to add a Sadowsky to my collection - twice - for variety but it didn’t take. I have 3 Roscoe’s (actually still looking to sell my LG3000) and they do all I need. I am not a studio guy or anyone important. No one insists I use a Fender or whatever for a gig. They know I will have quality, appropriate gear, I’ll be prepared, and I’ll be on time. That’s why I get asked to play. I like it that way. I’m last my collections and swapping days. I have an active 5 that I love. I have a passive P that I love. I’m good to go - except maybe selling/trading the LG for a Century fretless 5.

I’m an omnivore having several Fenders, a Spector, Warwick, Reverend and Ibanez, but the Roscoe is at the top of the food chain. Roscoe gets the first call though and I’ll be super excited when this next build is complete. I’ll likely unload both of my Fender p-basses and order a Roscoe Classic P, but I can only stand one bought of “two weeks” at a time :roflmao:

I really like my Roscoe Classic P. The only P bass I’ve hung on to. I built one many years ago - p body, j neck, etc - and played it for one gig with Al Wilson and then sold it. I like a friends ‘59 Fender pawn shop find but that’s the only other P bass I could see myself playing other than my Roscoe.
