Roscoe Club

I also have a GK 700RB and yes the class AB style heads with the heavy transformers that put out a lot of heat seem to have a different delivery, more punch and heft on the notes.
There might be something to this, but many engineers of great new “digital” amps say that the Class D amps have plenty of punch and heft.
That said, when I used a REDDI I thought (maybe it was all in my head) that there was a feeling of “weight” when I played it. It does have a giant, heavy iron transformer. IDK.

In most cases I simply ordered a new electro-socket from Bestbassgear.com and installed a new switchcraft output jack.
I'm curious why the bass needs an Electro-socket at all - why not just a regular jack?

Just gently grip the the output jack with pliers, twist (counterclockwise) and unscrew the the electrostatic socket.
I tried but it's going nowhere! I suspect @Fred312b is correct that it is superglued.

@Funkinthetrunk @JOME77 @Fred312b Anyway, thank you all very much!! Will let you know how I got on!

It actually is a normal Jack. The electro-socket is just the mounting device. Keith formally used the “football” plate and went to the electro-socket around 2000. The electro-socket is actually great. It’s just the fact that they use an extra nut to recess it further (and the over tightening) that’s an issue.
Seriously, just order a new jack and electro-socket and cut the wires and replace both. It’ll save you a lot of frustration.

If you can unscrew the eletrosocket, remove the nut and just use the lockwasher, that will give you enough to keep it from unplugging. As I mentioned before, gently grip the jack with pliers (preferably with channellock / water pump.) But what I failed to say is stick a small screw driver into one of the screw mounting hole to have leverage to unscrew the electrosocket. That'll remove it whether it has super glue or locktite. I use a fancy jack (Pure Tone), it seems to grip the cord plug tighter.

LOL
There in lies the problem. You can not unscrew the electro-socket. It is either tightened to tightly or they used some type of thread locker. I have literally destroyed 6-7 trying to take them apart. And usually by the time you get the output jack removed (in pieces) the electro-socket is scratched all up or distorted.

I've never had an issue, but I only had 3 Roscoe's that I did this to. Maybe Keith started using JB Weld :)

Ok everyone, if you have flats on your active 5 string, what are you using? I love the TI’s on my Classic P. Love the fundamental and attack. Debating trying flats on my Century 5. Not sure if I go with the known TI’s or something else.

I'm using an old set of chromes. I'm not a huge fan of their feel, but I really like the sound they make with my PJ
