Roscoe Club

I have yet to play a Roscoe bass that didn't sound great but two stand out as exceptional sounding and both are SKB 6's with fairly heavy Mahogany bodies. One was ordered by Pacman and it had reverse slant pickups. That was an outstanding bass but I foolishly sold it because of the weight. These days I have some basses that weigh as much as that one and I just play them and forget about the weight.

I’m agree that basses and guitars with a mahogany body seem to produce a better sounding instrument. I don’t own a Roscoe with that body wood, but I’ve had other brands and still own a few that do.
My last custom build sports a lighter weight mahogany, but still sounds awesome.
I think if I were still performing actively playing bass that I would buy to try a bass built with the neck and body from mahogany.

I know you guys don't care for single cuts but I love em! Honestly when I first started playing bass, I hated the way single cuts looked and vowed to never buy one. Funny how life changes.

LOL
It's not so much that we don't care for single cuts ....... with me it's more that my body just doesn't fit the large body!:)

Here's a couple pics from one of our bass GTG's that you brought your Fodera single cut to.

As the saying goes "a couple pictures are worth 2,000 words"!:roflmao:

I have a single cut that is not in the same category as the Roscoe but it is an interesting one. I previously bought an Ibanez SC 6 like this one:Cort A5PLUSSCAOP Artisan Series Swamp Ash Body, 5-String, New, Free Shipping | Reverb

It played great and sounded fine but...it had a very strange quirk in that the A same as the open A fretted on the B or E strings was very dead sounding....similar to the typical Fender dead spot in the way it sounded. I returned that one and now the SC Ibanez SRSC basses are discontinued.

I recently bought one of these used: Invalid Link Removed

It is a surprisingly good bass and really it is not too big but the shape is different to handle. Once it is in playing position it feels normal. The Bartolini offshore electronics sound very good an the particular bass I have plays very well and sets up with nice low action.

I am confident that a Roscoe SC would be spectacular but I am not giving up my bolt on Roscoe basses. They are too fine.
