So how do you like the Pope preamp in your "new to you" Roscoe? I've got a band Pope (with A/P and passive tone control) in my fretted Roscoe 5 and love it!
man its superb pre! its the only active bass that i have my mind to cut freq and not to boost
Certainly been playing my Roscoe this week. Getting ready for the 2nd joint service at church this Sunday (we usually have multiple services except in July). We’re doing some big songs.

It’s a little quiet. I’m recovering from hip replacement surgery a couple weeks ago. They don’t want me going downstairs yet so no access to my gear. Not cleared to drive yet, either. My post op appointment is Tuesday so maybe I’ll get some restrictions removed at that time.

I miss having 2 fretless basses that sound different (but I am glad one of them is with @SteveC). Hope your recovery is going smoothly, Steve!
Speaking of some big songs. Here's one of them that we're playing (with me playing over it with the Roscoe Century V). Some of you guys that play church music may recognize it but this version has a much cooler bass part than the radio version. I haven't tried attaching an audio file since the new format was released so I guess we'll see if it works.

I've owned a few 34" scale Roscoes that I had custom made and there is no difference in tones. My opinion... scales are just preference. I own both 34" and 35" and I only prefer 34" because of the shorter reach.
Totally agree. 34” scale Roscoes have the same great low B to my ears.
I’ve had my Roscoe for about 3 weeks now, and I have to say this is the best playing bass I’ve laid hands on. I have a smaller build, so I went with the 34” scale on my 4 string, also asking Keith for the lowest actions and thinnest neck possible. He sure delivered. I’ve previously owned a Fodera Monarch, 2 MTD 534-24s, a Lakland US 55-94 deluxe, a couple US Fenders, a custom Maruczyzk, and got to demo Sadowsky, FBass, Modulus, and this one plays better for me than all of them. The Barts with the Nordstrand preamp is very versatile, and it’s aggressive enough to easily cut through a dense mix. I’m a big fan of Keith and his work! This flamed/curly koa he had on hand was exactly what I wanted, as it very similar to the style of wood used for most things here in Hawaii. And, side note, his friend who does the custom inlay work is an artist!

My previous favorite tops were quilt maple, but not after my Koa Century 5. I love Koa. Still like quilt maple that looks like it’s moving. My fretless is a really tight flame maple which I also love. I’m a fanboy, but I really feel like Roscoe’s are the nicest liking basses out there. Beautiful tops. Amazing finishes. Body shape. Headstock. A couple “experiments” here and there, but I basically quit looking after I got my first Roscoe. I have 3 right now which is a nice number. I wouldn’t mind a Classic jazz to go with my Classic P.
