Roscoe Club

Wow!
Every time that it pops up for sale the asking price is higher!
I guess that’s a good thing for sellers but not so good for folks buying used.
Beautiful bass! It appears to have aged gracefully!
Seems pretty much inline with all prices of good used and new basses!

The price for a new one like that would be really scary - I would think!

I guess so. It does appear though that pricing of a STD Plus with a thin top and a Custom with a thick carved top (and the other Custom features) has become a bit blurred lately.

Yeah, I think I paid about $2,600ish back in 2012 when I had it built.

I will say (partial as I am) that this particular bass has an unusually thick top for a “thin veneer” as is often the case for the Standard Plus basses. The wenge fingerboard is also pretty special with a nice grain and unusual “circle” around the 12th fret area.

Definitely a beautiful bass Steve. Plus, you have that wonderful picture of Keith Roscoe playfully wrapping his arms around you to play that bass!

And you took a lesson with Jimmy Haslip using THAT bass! And this pic of you, Jimmy and THAT bass!

Well, I've bought that bass 3 times. Originally, then again to really give it a try, and then again for nostalgia. But it's dumb to have a bass you don't play. In hindsight, I wish I would have made it a 5, but at the time I was in a group doing a lot of "smooth jazz" and Yellowjackets. So between that, the weekend with Jimmy, I went 6. It's an amazing bass if you play 6. I think the price is crazy. I sold it for maybe $2,300 way back. Now they want $3,100? I paid elike $2,700.

I still have the pictures and the memories. :crying::cool:

Sorry if this is against the rules (i didnt see anything in TOU)

But the hyperlinks on the Roscoe website aren't working for me.
It shows me the pricelist for Standard, S+, Custom, Sig, but it wont let me open the links/pdfs for tonewoods, topwoods, and additional options.

Does anyone have that info?
Thank you

That would be Keith Roscoe. He has an amazing wood stock (shared with his wife, an internationally acclaimed furniture designer). As far as options, he is extremely flexible and willing to try new ideas. Contact him by phone and email. He's probably easier to reach by phone, often answering in person.

Click on the attached files and they'll download to your PC hard drive. Then you can open them.

With the inflation of the past 8 years, I would be amazed if those prices are still in effect!

We’ve actually had a few Roscoeheads start builds within the last 1-2 years and they claimed most of the prices are still valid.
My recommendation would be to spec out your bass using the prices as a guideline (to keep it close to budget) and then call and send an email to Keith asking for a quote for the exact specs that you want. Obviously special tops, finger boards, scale and string spacing will add to the price.

Had a fun yacht rock show last night, played exclusively on the Roscoe Century St+ PJ. Notable songs:  Peg w/ extended solo sections over the last chorus, which made my right wrist very angry, and She Works Hard For The Money with the new MXR synth bass pedal, which also seemed like a 10,000-note song. Settings shown below for how I set the pedal.
