Roscoe Club

Yeah, the Audere is a bit to polite sounding to my ears. I had it in 3 different Roscoe's and only liked it in one of them (solid maple). I just ordered an East Uni-Pre so I'll let you know how it sounds in a Roscoe. It performs the pickup blending in the active mode (acts more like a 2 channel mixer) so I'm hoping that it gives me more nice subtle blends between the bridge and neck p/u. It also has a 3-band (bass/mid/treble) with a sweepable mid control and passive tone control (active/passive mode too of course). I'm hoping that the East pre will impress me but the worst case is I put the Demeter back in (which seems to always happen! :))
Which configuration Uni-Pre did you get (holes/knobs)? If it doesn't work out for you I might know where you can send it next ;)

JOME77, the main (first) bass line is some WICKED tone! Hell, everything sounds amazing! Damn, I might have to get that thang installed for myself...some of the best tone I've ever heard, and I'm one picky mofo.

Yeah, that bass sounded really good. It had the Bart CB's and the passive tone control worked really nice. The Pope is a great choice if you really like the sound of your bass. It retains it well. I'm told that the East Uni-pre allows for much more radical tone shaping (but it's suppose to have a really good passive sound too).

Let me help you stop using the Demeter as a crutch, I will pm you my mailing address. :D

I installed the ACG EQ01 yesterday and I am really digging it. Sounds completely different than my Roscoe/Bart - Bart Pre setup in my SKB3005. I installed the Aguilar DCB D4 pickups with the ACG and it sounds good. I think I have the hang of the low pass filters, still trying to work out the high pass filter for the treble.

Thanks! The color is a little muted in this picture, it's much more vibrant in person.

I really dig that trans black Big Man loaded 5er.

So far the Big Singles are great. Much more open and clear than the Barts. I'm going to gig it tonight to see how it does in a live situation.

She arrived without a scratch on her...made in July of last year, so basically in new shape! I've been hunting for a Roscoe with a mahogany body for some time, and have to get used to the warmer, fuller tone, compared to my ash SKB. I played the ash one last night, and the hog one debuts tonight!

Well the East Uni-Pre arrived yesterday and I got it installed today.
The install went smooth and the preamp sounds excellent! I had spoken to Max at BBG earlier this week and he stated that the Roscoe Barts would work fine in the passive mode of the East Uni-Pre. I had my doubts but as usual, Max was indeed correct. The bass sounds great in the passive mode!!! The passive tone control works really good (in both the active and passive mode). This preamp provides some excellent tone shaping capability! Awesome highs, Smooth deep lows and the ability to use the Mid-Freq knob and zero in on the mid freq. to boost or cut. The highs really remind me of the Demeter Pre. Really glassy and clear sounding.
I'll record some sound clips later in the week and post them.

Well the East Uni-Pre arrived yesterday and I got it installed today. It would have been a simple install but unfortunately my Roscoe cavity only had large deeper round routes around where each preamp pot mounts and the East preamp boards bottomed out on the thicker areas (outside the deeper round routes). Of course that prevented the threaded shaft of the pots from going fully through the body holes (so I could thread on the washer and nut). Nothing that a little routing wouldn't solve but it's certainly not for the faint of heart (or inexperienced techs).

Lemme hang onto that Demeter for ya. No reason to have it there cluttering up your place
