Roscoe Club

Wow, a lot of activity since I was last here and a lot of sweet basses. I just got back from a conference in Salt Lake City. Utah was very scenic, low humidity and in the upper 90s during the day and down around 65 at night, mornings were very pleasant. If you ever go to SLC, they have some quirky laws if you want to have a drink. They will not serve alcohol without also buying food, found that out when I only wanted a glass of wine and you can only have one drink in front of you at a time so you have to finish your drink completely before they bring another. I did have a really good beer in an after hours reception called Polygamy Porter. It was so good, I had to have more than one. :D

As part of the conference closing the band Neon Trees performed, the bassist could drive the 1/8 notes and I thought how much better it would have sounded if he would have been playing a Roscoe instead of a Fender. I was at the front of the stage which was about 10' away from the band so I could hear Branden Campbell's white Aguilar DB751 with matching DB810 cabinet very clearly, it was just missing that Roscoe grind. Well, only 4 more trips out of town from now until November, it has been a busy year.

What's this "schedule" you speak of? I'm on reserve now. I only go when and where they tell me! I might just ride the jumpseat up there though.
Greensboro, come, you must! Yoda, among other things !:bassist::hyper:

Mmmm...Polygamy Porter. I remember that one. Good beer!

Ok, my prediction for the Cowboys 2016 season. Game 1, First Quarter, Tony Romo breaks his collar bone and is out for 14 games,. Dak Prescott takes Dallas to 14-2 record, Romo comes back for the play-offs, chokes as usual and we loose in the first round again. Tony Romo is the DEVIL!

Ah yes, preseason heroes! If Romo goes down, and you are relying on Prescott to "save" your season....well, you're even more screwed than last year. ;)

Back to basses! ;)

...and now Dez is out for who knows how long. Poor sucky Cowboys.

yeah, some quirky liquor laws, but some great breweries. you can get a drink without food, unless it is a restaurant, then food is a must (appetizers work though). Glad you enjoyed your stay, this place rocks if you like the outdoors, as good as anyplace even if you are not a member of the prevailing religion (I'm not ), it can be worked around.

Well, out of nowhere I get an email from Talkbass saying there's been activity on the Roscoe Club thread. I thought the thread was dormant but you guys have been yammering away all this time! I'll have to have a chat with Talkbass as to why I'm not getting updates.

First, for those who don't know me - long-time Roscoe head. I've purchased about 7 in my "illustrious career", but I currently own 2. They are both MONSTERS! Especially my fretless - I will be buried with it (apologies to my wife upfront).
Second, have you guys planned or had a Roscoe GTG? I saw some chatter about it, but again, I bet I missed a ton. Joe, what if it's there in Georgia - could I invite myself over to stay at your house? ;)

GTG? Most likely, there will be a "big" one in GSO this spring. I'd like to do something this fall, but it doesn't look likely at this point. Moving into the new building has been....an adventure....:atoz:
I'm an idiot - I don't know what GSO stands for. Google says it's "Government School of Oceanography" -- so that would be a "unique" place for a GTG! ;)

I'm guessing it's Greensboro...? I would LOVE to come!

GSO = Greensboro, it's the IATA code for our airport (which I can literally walk from my front door to the front door of in 10 minutes).

So, yes, this will be our "everyone check out the killer new shop" GTG, and everyone's invited!

I would love to see the new shop. Picked up my first Roscoe in the "original" shop so it's be really fun to see the new place. But I'd probably have to buy another bass.

Word!
If I did that, my wife would become my former wife.

Mine would be pissed but I might be able to get away with it. Not sure what I'd get though. I have an amazing fretted 5 that I've been using and happy with for years now. Don't really need a fretless (tried a couple and sold them) and the same goes for a 6 string. Could get another 5 I suppose, maybe get different electronics. I've got Bart soaps/bart preamp so maybe some jazz pups, or PJ Aguilar, something like that. Maybe go really crazy and get a - dum dum dummmm - 4 string!
