Well, let me know when you want to work out getting it here for a once-over.
Good, this is just a "feeler" to see how many interested parties there are...speak up people!
Current plan would be to bring it - and the fretless for a PLEK - in person in conjunction with some GTG or another. It's "more or less" a straight shot from Philadelphia to Atlanta, and I do like road trips...
Like I said - I'm looking at how to make the logistics work.
I could probably do only one or the other in any given year now that I'm 'self-employed.' More time, less money...
The GA event looked like it was firming up before you mentioned hosting at Roscoe Galactic HQ.
NC would be my preference (sorry GA guys...) because it's closer and the object of the game would be getting the basses back to Santa's Workshop for attention... If NC isn't on this year, I might take advantage of a stopover on the way to (preferred) or from GA.
Let's see if there is any feedback that makes one this fall seem logical first...maybe better to wait and do a spring one, so we can work the logistics a bit further in advance for everyone that wants to attend. On the GA one, Roscoe will be in attendance, unless I have a gig that weekend!
Good info to have. We'll schedule the GTG with the above dates in mind. We definitely want to have as many Roscoe guys attend as possible!
I've got the Darkglass pre in a Zon fretless and it works really well in that application (3 band with hi-mids, lo-mids and bass). Not sure how it would sound with a fretted (although the hi-mid control covers as much highs as most players would prefer). Very quite preamp too.
If I ever replace the Bart in my Roscoe fretted it would be with the Pope Flex-core or Demeter. The Demeter is just so plug and play and you just can't make it sound bad. The Pope, while being really transparent, provides more tone variations (passive tone, SC mode, variable treble and mid center freq's...........). Lot's of choices with the Pope pre.
I can easily convince a studio owner outside of Chicago to hold a Northern U.S. GTG for anyone that can't get to GA or NC. There's such a slim chance that I'd get the clearance to get on the road during this fall (I teach public school music, wife teaches special needs).
BONUS: the studio I have in mind has tons of Go-Pros, TV monitors and skype capability, so we could do a remote GTG the same day as the GA/NC one! =) Anyone interested? I've got 3 Roscoes currently...

If a Gboro GTG is planned, either at the shop or in the vicinity (Gard's house - LOL), I'm 100% on board, availability allowing. I'll bring my fretless SKB-5!

Though I no longer have one, there is something about a fretless Roscoe. I wanted to be a fretless only guy (maybe if I tried harder) and have owned 2 amazing fretless Roscoes. Maybe I'll get the chance to get one of them back one day.
My fretless Century 3006 is a fantastic bass. I have owned Pedulla Buzz basses for many years and sold my Pentabuzz after I got my Roscoe. There is no comparison. Yes, Pedulla makes a great fretless bass but Roscoe makes one that is so much better IMO. My Century is like a Lamborghini. So responsive and so easy to coax subtle nuances out of my playing. The Bartolini PU's/electronics are perfect for the Roscoe basses.
I let my bass teacher play my Century at one of his gigs and he tried to buy it from me. Yes, it is that good.

That is 30 lbs of cat. I am 6'2", and you can extrapolate how BIG he is from that information.
He is so big, someone (and not myself) actually started a religion based upon him:

So, yeah, you don't play with the Ox, the Ox does what he wishes. Fortunately, he's the mellowest, sweetest, coolest cat I've met. Only down side is he doesn't realize he's 30 lbs, he's convinced he's about 5-7 lbs.

Couldn't agree more. To my ear, a Roscoe fretless IS the the top of the mountain. Others come very close (i.e. ZON) but can't quite match the breadth/fullness. But, I am a little biased. Without apology.
Despite many visits to George's showroom and owning 2 different Roscoes, I still haven't heard a fretless!
Would love to hear how they compare to my mid-80s Tobias Basic 6, which is absolutely glorious! (As favoured by Mr Haslip, on his earlier albums.)EG
