My Lg made it from GC to the shop..
Neck refinish + new strings + Plek/setup in about a week sounds good to me.

Very little. I'll see if I can post a before/after pic later on.The fingerboard is so dark that you really can't see any of the figuring (it's really really subtle) unless you're shining a bright light directly on it. So I'm not worried about that part.
How much of the fingerboard did the Plek process take off?!

OK. The price starts with a 1 now. Make it happen.
Or somebody else please buy it and put us out of our misery already. LOL
You all know how I am. Maybe Fred will beat me to it.OK. The price starts with a 1 now. Make it happen.

I’m tempted by the Century 5JJ- that SteveC signature model is all youYou all know how I am. Maybe Fred will beat me to it.
Sounds good Joe. My problem with flats as I love the feel and tone in a recording setting or practice but in a full band mix they don't seem to cut through the mix good enough. I've played them all and TI's, Cobalts, and then Chromes was the best I played. Definitely nice strings that feel so good to play though. So we jammed this past Tuesday evening and I've got to tell you, I liked the live sound of my Fender Elite P-bass with the Chrome flats better than my Roscoe with nickel RW strings. Much more definition in the mix.
So I installed a set of Chromes on the Roscoe (again) and jammed this morning with a version of ABB's Dreams (with bass removed via GoldWave). IMO it came fairly close to coping the old school bass tone of the original recording (at least to my old ears).
They certainly feel better to the fingers ....... So much fun to play a bass with these strings installed.

however as much as I like rounds , at least 1/2 the herd here has them it takes way more EQ to get them to sit like the flats then the other way around , added bonus is much less fret wear . Lastly I have gone back to rounds on my fretless , it was just too murky with flats . That's the spirit !!I defiantly preferred rounds on my fretless when I had it.

I am a little curious about stringing an active 5 string bass with flats. It seems counter-intuitive to me. It might be fun to try as I never have on my active 5 (just passive 4's) but which flats? I have tried TI's and LaBella LTF's and I always seem to take them off. I'm not sure why I can't seem to "take" to flats. I use D'Addario nickels now so maybe.
I don't like to use a pick and I'm afraid I will loose attack/definition with fingers on flats. IDK, Pino sounds fine I guess. Yet another reason to try the P bass I suppose.
Steve,
Try D'addario Chrome Flats. Not at all counter-intuitive IMO.
