Sorry, said I’d quit posting but...I just heard Chicago at a great outdoor venue ..... The P was the best sounding bass, no doubt. My wife thought so as well. I almost emailed Greg from the show...
Sorry, said I’d quit posting but...I just heard Chicago at a great outdoor venue tonight. Only 3 original guys left (after 40+ years I guess that’s pretty good) but they sounded great. Really tight. 3 basses in the rotation - P bass, 5 string J and something with soap bars that I didn’t recognize. The P was the best sounding bass, no doubt. My wife thought so as well. I almost emailed Greg from the show...
So, caaaasual question:
Anyone got a lead on Darth Roscoe? Might be in the market to get my baby back.
Absolutely no need to march with the (P)lemmings. .

Name all the times in everyday life where something from the 50's & 60's is still the go to tool of the trade
A 1950's Kay is still one of the go-to's in bluegrass and rockabilly.Well, in the upright world, something from the 1750’s is still the go to tool of the trade!
Well that settles it. All of you can put your non P basses in the classifieds for sale then since it’s all you really need lol.
I’m not a gambler, but what are the odds he doesn’t make it through the weekend?![]()
Or contact Keith about a 5 string P?
All this talk about 50s/60s Fenders and Ps brings back memories of my first car. A 1951 Chevy Business Coupe. The old stove bolt six would deliver a solid 50 mph (down hill). No A/C, no power windows, no cruise control, the radio worked occasionally, the brakes worked most of the time and the steering had about 1/3 of a turn of that huge steering wheel of slop. I gave $35 for it an drove it home.
Gee, those were the good old days. The only things missing were performance, reliability, comfort, convenience, quality, workmanship and safety.
Hmmmm...... Think I'll stick with my Roscoe (and my new RAM Big Horn).

I think I'll probably stick with my Roscoe (5 string) as well. I suppose I was still looking at a Roscoe (even if a P) but I get what you mean - I think. Who knows, the allure of the simple P is still there (sounded so good at the Chicago gig) but the "performance, reliability, comfort and convenience" of my Century 5 is hard to de-thrown.
Not so sure about the Big Horn. My wife loves her loaded 2016 Charger and it's been a good car, but i hear reliability things about the Ram. I'm driving a Sierra and even the new ones are dated inside. I wish I could have the RAM interior in a Denali.
