I think that diamond wood nut would look sexy as hell on that bass. Both of my SKB's have diamond wood nuts and it really dresses them up nicely. If he sends a pic of that blank, please share it...
Losing Rutland Plywood really sucks. I can't imagine Keith has a lot of that material left. I've daydreamed of a diamond wood necked LG kinda like a Curbow... That would be rad.
I seem to recall seeing pictures of one or two that Keith built with all-Diamondwood necks as prototypes many years ago, but I don't know if that's documented anywhere...
Did you see that Moses graphite necked LG that was on Reverb a few months ago? That was the Darthiest Darth Roscoe ever.
I’m sure there are those who may be able to tell the sonic differences in nut material, but I’m not one of them. If the material is hard and properly fitted and cut, it’s all good.
I’ve owned basses with just about every known nut material; Corian, plastic, ebony, graphite, brass, bone, and of course diamond wood.
I just really love the aesthetics of the diamond wood on Roscoe basses. They just look great and function as well as any other material out there.
The matching blue/black on that killer blue quilted maple bass will look awesome!

My vote would be diamond wood but probably just for the aesthetic look. I couldn't tell a difference if it makes any at all in terms of tone.
I've never had a nut changed, so I can't offer an A/B comparison.
But I know the nut on my fretless matches the Diamondwood fingerboard, and I like the symmetry and completeness.
I think my others aren't, but I'd have to go do some research to see what they were billed as when I bought them.
Whatever they are, I like them fine (i.e. good choices by the builder) so I have no plans to change anything.
Sometimes a option or purchase isn't just abput tone. The looks of something simple like a Blue Diamondwood nut can really add to the overall looks. I of course went with the Diamondwood nut lol.
Nothing wrong with a simply aesthetic choice. When you’re having a bass built for you, and paying decent money, you should get what you want in sound and look. Nothing wrong with that. No one here is going to give you a hard time. We all love the look of our Roscoe’s as well as the sound and playability.

Here's some shots of a recent acquisition. #0004 of the Classic Series. Aguilar SC pickups and a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp. I've got a set of Sadowsky Blue Nickel Rounds on it, and it sounds mighty fine.

Great looking Roscoe Gary! I'd like to hear the Darkglass pre in that one. I had one in a Zon fretless and it sounded great for a fretless.
Does yours have the 2 bands of mid and a Bass (no treble)?
Thanks, Joe. That's right, the pre includes upper mids, lower mids, bass and no treble. I read that was Sheldon Dingwall's idea. I like it quite a lot.

He said mine was next in the hopper to be completed! So that means there are 2-3 in front of me?
But that's cool, I can't take off work this week and then it's a mother's day weekend. "Hey Sweetie, for Mother's Day let's take a day trip to Greensboro to pick up my new bass!" is definitely NOT going to go over well- and may be grounds for divorce. Soooo....
I'm good with a little delay.
Also- I'm going to have him plek my fretless and change out the 2 band for the 3 band bart preamp. From what I tell, I will be more than happy with both of those mods. I'm not especially convinced on the plek as it plays really well now, but adding the mid control on the preamp is going to be $$$$.
