Roscoe Club

I'm gonna put that on my tombstone.
To give you a little background, here's where I'm coming from:

That was a magical time in music (the 70's)! That's one of the albums that I purchased a couple years ago to build my chops back up after playing years of acoustic guitar based worship music.
AJA is definitely my favorite all time album (and Gadd and Rainey are one crazy good rhythm section).

I've owned a couple of Zon basses with stiff carbon fiber necks. I liked them for their unmoving necks, and their metallic sound. And sold them. I like the sound of wood. And Keith Roscoe does too.
Like this. . It's yours, right? Gorgeous!

I have to admit that I love the look of it. BUT, I feel that there may be some added rigidity to this design.

No doubt! The necks are quite stable, which is what you want, right?

It's all good but the best part is the growl that it brings to the equation! IMO it blends perfectly (sound wise) with an ash body.

Speaking of Steeley Dan and Wenge Wedge necks ....

I laid this down a few minutes ago using my Sig SKB 5 with a Wenge Wedge neck and a 2 week old set of D'addario Nickel RW's. IMO a great example of that growl that you'll get with a ash bodied Roscoe and wenge wedge neck!
The slides in this tune almost emulate a fretless with the blend control favoring the bridge p/u and a little low mid boost.

Nah. Steve, don't listen to the noise on the forum. Pick up your beautiful bass and listen to it. It's all you'll ever need. Sweet, sweet music.
Yeah, it sounded good at rehearsal last night. New strings and batteries. Usually helps get me over temporary GAS attacks. I have 2 gigs over the next 3 days so I’ll get some playing done without too much time to yearn and covet for basses I may or may not need.

“Need” is such a relative term ;)
