Roscoe Club

I had the fretted cedar/bart/bart combo and it was awful. Sold it immediately for another Roscoe that was great.
Was it strictly the tone you didn’t like or the weight? I have two SKB’s one each Cedar and swamp ash and love them both even though they sound a bit different, the Spanish Cedar has a lot more mids , that’s my observation

The sound. It disappeared in a not dense mix. Too soft sounding. I also recognize that every bass is different....but for me, I would never go down the path of a fretted spanish cedar body with Barts again. I'm sure if I had put different pickups or a more aggressive preamp the sound would have changed, but still not enough for my needs. I also once had a bass with a lighter ash body that was simular. It had quad coil Barts. Right before I sold it I put an Aguilar 3 band preamp in it and that made a world of difference. A bass can be changed dramatically by switching out the pickups, preamp or strings...and it all depends on your goal sound wise. We're all so different in our needs from an instrument.

Well, after the X-rays and MRI on my knee that said I’m ok - save for aging - I was left with about $950 that isn’t covered by insurance so a new “Pino” is probably out of the question for now. I’ll have to be happy with the photo. I put some new strings on my Century to help me over the GAS. I have 2 gigs in 3 days so they’ll be broken in well.

Well that's good news. Health before bass.

No!
Bummer Steve! How'd you hurt your knee?
You should have just gotten the next door neighbors cat and done your own cat scan on that knee. Then you'd have the down payment for the Pino Roscoe P-Bass!

True I guess.

@JOME77 - I hurt it taking a pretty hard fall off my bike - the pedal kind.

Bummer!
I actually had to go to the Ortho doctor today too. They took and x-ray of my ankle and it ended up being a small bone spur that had irritated a tendon or ligament. I've got to wear a boot for 4-6 weeks.
I'm ashamed to say how I did it. :sorry: I ran a race with my grand kids across 20 stacked round bales of hay on my son in-laws farm. It didn't hurt until the next day. Go figure!

... at least I won the race!:)

I just checked Facebook and here's what Keith posted:

Here is an LG-3005 Swamp Ash bass we are building for our friend Gary.

I just stained it Root Beer. It is a little hard to see at this stage and will have more shading done later.

The next photos show two Wenge Wedge neck blocks we laminated today. He upspec'd this model and added the wedge neck. I think he might also be matching the back of the headstock. That is a feature from the Signature model.

Wenge Wedge neck..can you say that 5 five times fast?

Originally we were going to do a textured surface on the Ash. We worked on some scraps for a while but we all chickened out. So we are going full gloss now.

We know that looks great.
