Roscoe Club

I still have my fretless Rob Allen MB2.

Why sell both the Roscoe and the Zon? I wanted to bless someone real good!

I forgot that you still had the Rob Allen. Those are cool sounding basses.
I guess that was the same logic that I used when I sold my Roscoe fretless. I still had my Gecko fretless and it more than adequately sufficed my fretless needs.
OK I forgive you. :)

I guess Ray and I are in the same boat. I sold 2 great Roscoe fretless basses. Insanity for sure.

I'm not so sure it was insanity, Steve. I like to think of it as putting my money to good/better use. Insanity is taking out a loan to finance a project when I have a wall full of excellent basses!!

Right! The RA is great light weight fretless! Lots of MWAH!!

Your Gecko is a fine fretless, too!

This really isn't Roscoe related, although I'll be trying to copy some of it using a Roscoe. I just received this signed copy of Brian Bromberg's 'Thicker Than Water' CD!! If you just happen not know who he is, you must google him and check him out. My original copy of the CD broke trying to remove it from the holder and Brian was kind enough to send me a replacement!
Pretty cool, if you ask me!!

I've got a few BB CD's and I wanted to like this one too, especially after seeing the cover portrait with the fretless. But I really haven't been able to get into this one. The first half is pretty much all slappity-poppity smooth jazz pop. There are a couple of tasty fretless and DB tracks, but so far I can't make myself believe they're enough to create value for the full CD. Maybe it'll grow on me...

I miss Bass on the Broadband too. Although the reality is 90% of the music I listen to is the setlist for the next gig. Sometimes, I do let myself run wild ;-)

It’s interesting that you say that! I’ve yet to hear the entire CD. This is my third Bromberg CD. He definitely has his own sound/style. I think he gets so many, ‘What is your slap bass technique?’ that he wants to do it more than anything else, when his phrasing is so interesting!

I like the DSM reference!

Long shot question - is anyone here considering changing out their Roscoe Barts (P2 shape) to try something else? I have a yearning for some Roscoe Barts in that Century Standard 6 that I just picked up.

It would compress the sound a bit but if you really want to make that one sound great (ash with the CB's), drop a Demeter preamp in it. I'm so convinced that you'll like that if you don't, I'll buy the Demeter from you.
