Roscoe Club

Since I’ve started gigging out a bit these days It didn’t take long for even my 45lb Berg HD112 to get heavy going up and down the stairs (and to and from the car.) At any rate I thought that I’d take a chance and try an Aguilar SL112 cab (@25lbs). I like the sound clips that I’ve heard and preferred it over the Berg.
I used it at practice today for the 1st time and loved the sound. Very warm lows and great emphasis on the lower mids. I used it with my Aguilar AG700 and Roscoe Signature SKB 5. Very tight sound!
At any rate, if any of you Roscoeheads are looking to lighten your load you might want to check one out.
I’ve had 2 pairs of Aguilar SL112’s, one with a TH500 and one with the AG700, and I agree- they are great little cabs and very easy to schlep. They aren’t the hifi-est, but if you like the Aguilar “modern-vintage” sound, you’ll dig ‘em. Two can really move a lot of air...

Yeah Fred. Modern-vintage is a great way to describe them. They work great on the classic rock, country and R&B tunes that we're doing.

I've got the SL212 and an AG700. I really dig the sound with both of my Roscoes. Definitely a nice sweet, not too hi-fi yet still modern, sound.

Before switching over to Berg cabs, first a CN212 and now a HDN210, I had an Aguilar TH500/2xSL112 rig. I agree, the SL112 cabs sound great, two even better than one, IMO. Miss that rig.

Roscoe and Genzler are a match made in heaven.

I still haven't tried any Genzler gear. Take your music groups to a contest in Chicago, and leave your amps with me for a day.

Still rocking my Roscoes through Genz Benz 3.0, 6.0, 9.0 heads and 110, 112, 210 cabs, with my 'big rig' being the 9.0 head powering a fEarful 15/6/1 and 15 sub.

About 15 years ago, I played in a band that had some Genz-Benz PA cabs. Other than that, I’ve never been able to try out any Genz-Benz or Genzler gear, but I’ve always wanted to. For amps though, I always seem to end up back on Ampeg every time I’ve strayed away.

No doubt that they sound good guys.
Here-in lies the problem:

Bass Array 12-3 SLANT
Additional information

Weight 38 lbs

Magellan 112T
Additional information
Weight 36 lbs

The Aguilar SL112 weighs 25lbs and "less weight with a great sound" was the goal.;)

And if the gig requires more, then I just get my 2 healthy son-in-laws to load up the Bert HT-322.:D

Wow! Those are great points, Joe, but when I’m too old or broken down to move 38 pounds around then it’s that time to quit or go wireless DI and get the wife to carry and hold the bass!

I use this with the MG350 head. I had it at like "2" for volume on a jazz quartet gig. It's a great cab and 24 lbs. It's the "tall" version of the MG112T.

I've been using the Mesa Subway line, and it has been working excellent with my Roscoes. D800 and 210 and 112 or 115 for me. Much lighter than the HD112's or HT-322 that I use to use.

Yeah. Those are great sounding cabinets. I certainly would have considered a Subway 112 but not many used on the market. Not many Aguilar SL112's either but I did find one.

LOL
Ray, I'm not too old and broken down to carry a 38lb cabinet. I just didn't want to and since I was getting another cabinet it made sense to get the lightest, best sounding cab I could find.

Besides, "Genzler" sounds way to close to Geezer. And I'm not ready to be an Old Geezer! :D

I can't say enough good about Genzler in general and the Tall 12 combo in particular. For 30 lbs. (24 for the cab and 6 for the MG350 head) you'd be hard pressed to find better bang for the buck/weight and great tone and portability.
