Yes, I agree. I've had the Demeter, Bart, and Aguilar too and the Audere was my favorite by a rather wide margin.
Pre's I've owned and used , Demeter 10/10 fantastic pre with insane wiring if you can deal with that, Audere 10/10 will buy again when needed , love the easy to order site and fantastic transparent sound ( your bass sounds like ? ) Nordy 2 band 10/10 excellent and will buy again was great in a P . HAZ import , dirty & aggressive is her name ... 10/10 Maple Spector = Rock toan for days !
Yep, I agree completely. The 10 kHz on the Bart vs. 4 kHz on the Nordstrand was my biggest complaint with the Bart pre. The bass is 30 Hz on the Bart vs. 50 Hz on the Nordstrand, which I think could account for the boominess, too (another miss for the Bart IMHO). For me, that 10 kHz point for the treble just makes for an unpleasant shrill and piercing tone with any boost. Nowadays, I rarely boost treble on anything though and have found a passive tone control more useful for controlling higher frequencies, at least in my situation.
The mids on the Nordstrand is more usable even maxed out.
I honestly like the differences in the various tonal qualities in my basses and don’t particularly want the same preamp/pups/strings on each. It’s like having more than one pair casual shoe options!

yeah , just some opinion but they worked very well for me in the many basses . I have a Tone pump in my Euro1977 and that bass sounds badass , now that pre gets a lot of love/hate but after turning down the gain trimmer it functions perfectly for me , so that too is a keeper . I'll be honest though , once I go for the good stuff I usually leave it & accept it's personality for better or worse . It helps define the instrument a little , like having different pups in a P , it's all about that .01% differenceI get it! What I thought was some model reference is your ratings, 10/10!
The NBMT-FL has the treble down to like 6k. It's designed for fretless (though I have the regular one in mine) FWIW.
But I tend to low pass well before 10k. I'm not a fan of much above that freq.
Not at all Roscoe specific but how many of you guys use a compressor when you gig live?
I haven't played out in a while where we didn't have some sort of compression at the sound board and now that I'm gigging with minimal sound reinforcement (minimal bass through the mains and no compression) I'm considering getting a pedal compressor to use when I play out.
Also, which pedal or rack mount compressor are you using.

I went through a ridiculous amount of comps until I landed on that one...
My two always-on effects are my DarkGlass Vintage Ultra for EQ and a teeny bit of tubey vintage color. And my Becos Pro Stella. Mild (like maybe 3:1) ratio, threshold adjusted for maybe 3dB total gain reduction, Auto-Slow attack/release, soft knee and (the real magick) just a bit of tape saturation color.
I do, but it’s just the built in compressor on my Ampeg SVT 7-Pro.
My take-with-me pedal board has the Keeley Compressor Pro! I don’t know why it took me so long to use one on the regular!

I have a Compressore on my pedal board. It was helpful for the Classic Country band, a must for the Classic Hard Rock band.
I love my Compressore!
But it's big and while it does One Thing very well, it just does One Thing.
And I've been a little leery of tube fragility, although in truth, I have never had a tube issue with any of my amps...
So I keep the Compressore home for recording, mostly, and the Becos is on my portable board.
Blues and Classic Rock mostly, getting into Outlaw Country....
There’s a guy posting this thread who has a ton of compressor reviews in his signature *cough* @scubaduba *cough*... just sayin’... i myself have and love the FEA Labs Dual Band Compressor/Limiter- it’s a bit more $$$ and has a ton more knobs than some, but I’m very happy with it.
