My first Roscoe build was a Standard Plus 6 with a RIDICULOUS quilt maple top. It was almost as thick as a custom. Beautiful wenge board. Amazing bass. Easiest playing 6 ever. You may remember I bought it back like 3 times before finally giving up on 6 string. Mine came from Greg as well. I had my lesson with Jimmy Haslip on that bass the 1st day I owned it. Crazy.

Yeah.
Keeping it real, almost all of the other high end builders (Elrick, MTD, Zon, Fodera, Skjold among a few) build basses with flat tops and most of them have very thin top woods. IMO those would compare more closely with the Roscoe STD Plus model. And the Roscoe STD plus is much less expensive than those brands.
The carved top on a Roscoe Custom is in a league of it's own. That my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

My first Roscoe lust was the spalted purpleheart board and yellow (forget what they called it) finish. I'd still like one if not only for the nostalgia.

I will say that the thickness of tops on the Roscoe Standard plus basses are thicker than a lot of basses I've owned that cost as much as $3000 more. I also love the Poly finish Keith uses as it doesn't show fingerprints and smudges from touching. The finish Devon uses is the worst I've seen for that and the 1 thing I dislike about his basses. It is a super high gloss that looks great when wiped down but shows every touch. Drives me crazy lol.
It's a gift from my wife, so it's probably not a Roscoe. But they do sell those other basses!!
Sweetwater is actually who I turn to for all my bass gear needs and Church PA System installs. Probably spent over $25,000 with them for personal and Churches I've worked on over the years
They sell Fodera basses, and I've been very, very good this year!!! 
There is a nice P bass as well.
Ray, the good news is that Sweetwater has special financing in place for up to 48 months. The bad news is that it won't be needed for your gift.

I hope to get Bit-O-Honey candies and not that dumb pencil!! You need a pencil sharpener with those and do they still sell them? I want to say you get those pencils when you buy those Fender boat anchors. (I guess I did say it!)
