You know I'll have to keep this Ibanez until either I turn to dust or it turns to dust. :thumbsup: This Ibanez makes my Gibson play like it should be gifted to my 6 yo grandson. :laugh: I knew it needed some work, but now I'm tempted to contact Keith and see what they can do with it. All it needs is a fret work, plek'd and that 3-way switch! :)

Back to the shed with Ibanez!!!

A few months ago I bought a 2017 Roscoe LG Standard for a fellow TBer... I can't seem to get much
treble from the neck pup and overall the tone doesn't sound anything like the previous Roscoes I've owned - LG3005, SK3005, LG3006 from the early 2000's. It doesn't seem to have that rich Roscoe sound I used to get. It just seems duller. I only use DR High Beams mostly - they are fairly new.
The preamp has an adjustment but I believe that is only volume.
I don't know if there are any solutions other than to start replacing parts like the preamp and pups with
something like Aguilar's.

Any thoughts?

You should check out Righteous Guitars in Roswell. Righteous Guitars - Your Choice For The Best Guitars and Amplifiers
I've heard they do good work and they have a plek machine.

Something amiss with your preamp or wiring harness? Your pickups are likely Bart CBs, not Roscoe Barts. CBs have plenty of treble extension, with a different mid profile. I would definitely give Mr. Roscoe a phone call for his ideas. I definitely wouldn't start replacing components that may not have anything to do with the problem.

Yeah. I rather suspect a preamp problem. The only issue that concerns me otherwise is that you state that you can't get much highs from the neck p/u.
Although that could be related to the pre too (via the blend control).
Maybe a quick check would be to bypass the preamp and go straight (passive) to the output jack.
You could perform this using wires with alligator clips (remove the batteries). Just do one p/u at a time.

I agree with checking out the preamp wiring. Joe's suggestion is a good one and one I'll keep in mind to try just to have that knowledge! :thumbsup:

My experience has been with buying used basses, and the main reason I might shy away from doing so, is a prior owner has gone into that cavity with good intentions, but sometimes their experience with that area is minimum and they move stuff around in there or they have the experience and trying out new wiring configurations.

Yep, good intentions gone wrong. Also, I have purchased used basses where pickups have been swapped in and out. Even though the originals were restored to the bass they were wired incorrectly.

I have owned used cars like that: Something fixed or adjusted wrong, probably in an attempt to 'improve' or fix some long-forgotten initial condition. Which caused an undesirable side-effect, which results in a chain of other changes, each intended to fix the unintended consequence of the prior 'fix.' IOW - chasing symptoms rather than actually finding underlying problems.

In dealing with such cases, the best course of action IME is start by putting everything back to the way it was supposed to be from the factory and evaluate, then address the _real_ underlying perceived problem and fix it right.

:laugh: The returned tall 3-way switch is still in transit to StewMac, which was supposed to have been delivered on the 13th.

There was a little more drama surrounding my delivery.
I got an email stating the package was in the local post office and scheduled for delivery on the 26th. Yesterday evening I get an email stating the package was delivered on or near my front porch @ 5:19 pm. I fetched the mail from the mail box and looked on my porch and all around it, up the sidewalk and along the driveway. NO PACKAGE!!
So, I went to USPS.com webpage and navigated to launch a complaint/investigation through their Customer Support. In about 30 minutes I get an email from them saying my complaint was received and will be forwarded to the local post office for my area.
This morning I see an email from the local post office stating that they will investigate the issue. At about 12:00 noon I get a call from the local post office (Anne) asking if I had received the package and I explained to her what had transpired and that no package was found based on the carrier's comments. Anne said she would contact the carrier and that, also, mail is being delivered today.
Okay, so I figured I'll go check the mail box again.
I go to the mail box to check it out and found more junk mail and the StewMac package! All nice and warm, too, which tells me it just got delivered this morning around the time I got the call!
I called Anne back and told her the package was in the mail box. The End!
