rosewood neck getting moldy...

Too date I own 3 base w rosewood board. 93 mij jazz, 05 mij pbass and 89 stingray.

The ray and p is fine, but the mij jazz which I have owned for more than 5 years started to get moldy in recent years. I remember it used to be fine. I wonder if it is due to me using the dunlop lemon oil to clean it.

Any idea?

Dampness + darkness = mold.

Put it in the sun in a well-vented area to kill the mold, and store in a dry place to prevent mold.

Or give it to me.

The UV of the sun is the best way to kill mold, some mold will stain the wood and might not come off. Give it a good wipe down with naptha followed by your favorite fretboard conditioner. Lemon oils works great and won't cause you mold.

on a side note, long term exposure to direct sunlight plus high humidity will do some "relic'ing" to your instrument...which can be cool for some.
