Round wounds vs flat wounds

I discovered this topic only today, and wow!

however, years ago, digital caliber in hand, I started measuring strings and my first attempt was with Rotosound RS66LD, and in fact the actual gauge was similar to the one reported in this catalogue: 48-63-82-102.

the Rotosound RS77 also shows a .050 G string, but advertised at .045.

Rounds, even for country/folk music. But it is a must to have at least one bass strung with flats, if for nothing else than playing dub/reggae.

I use Hexwounds which are round wounds shaped like Hexagons & those were made in Germany

That's pretty cool. I know all D'Addario brand strings have a hex core, whether wound round, half round, or flat around the core.
