Roundwound or Flatwoud (Rock/Blues/Funk/Pop)

Hello guys!!

I have a Bass Collection SB320 Nanyo Series (PJ pickups, active) and I want to change my OLDD strings.. Do you recomend roundwoud or flatwoud (for rock/blues/funk/pop).

And what do you think, Ernie Ball or D'addario?? And the models..

That's the problem! I don't know what hell of strings I use right now on my bass.. I bought it used for a month, and it steel with the same strings.. But I think it is roundwoud

If Ernie Ball and daddario are the brands available to you, I recommend trying a set of ernie ball slinkies and daddario chrome flats. It's a good starting point to see what you like.

I'm from Portugal. At a music shop (store??) Yeh, kind of..

The price is not the problem. I've heard that Ernie Ball and D'addario are one of the best.. I don't know

It's a personal choice. Best thing you can do is try both.

They're similar. The hybrid set has a tighter E and A. Depends what you like.

I've tried several brands of strings and the most versatile strings (IME) are:

Roundwound:
-GHS Bass Boomers
-D'Addario XL Nickel Wound

Flatwound:
-D'Addario Chromes
-Fender 9050

Other:
-GHS Pressurewounds
-D'Addario Nylon Tapewounds

Get a set of TI Jazz Flats and be done with it.

They are versatile and they come as singles.

I'm going to try the D'ADDARIO ECB81 CHROMES.

That's a good start, sort-of...be prepared to take awhile to break them in before making a determination as to whether you like them, or not: it's req'd to bring their true tone out.
Or, buy the D'Addario nickel-plated round-wounds and see if you prefer a brighter tone, a thumpier tone, or just like them as-is.
In your position, that's where I would start- the middle of the road, and cheaply-
then you'll know which way you prefer to go.

For the styles you mention I saw roundwound. Might be bright at first but will sound great after a little break in. I like DR fatbeams personally.
