RS210 Corner Cracked While Still In The Box, What To Do?

So, I ordered an RH450 and (2) RS210 cabs. Love the head and one of the cabs is mint, just beautiful. The other cab had two corners cracked. I contacted AMS, they had me ship it back and overnighted me a replacement. The replacement is cracked too, probably worse than the other one. Ugh.

So, my question is, do I just keep this cab, probably get some money off of it, or do I try a 3rd time? The rep asked me to call back Monday and talk to a product specialist. I tried to get a hold of TC Electronic, but there was no phone number. Any one on here have any experience with this and know of any sound differences or other issues? I can't hear anything, but the crack is visible.

Are the corner protectors cracked or the wood itself? If just the corner protectors, I'd see if the company will send you a couple and you can replace them. If it's the wood, send it back till you get an unbroken one. If it's the wood, it probably won't sound any different...today. But it can lead to problems down the road.

I guess I did kind of ask the question incorrectly. I am going to send it back til I get an uncracked one, but it looks like these may crack in the future. I did a search on the forums and on TC Electronic's forums and there was only one post about a broken speaker. TC RS series speakers are a molded plastic and wood with rounded edges, so I can't tell if it's wood or just molding I agree Jimmy, it could lead to issues down the road.

Also, I'm not blaming or defaming AMS. I love those guys. I buy quite a bit from them! It could have been cracked before they got it, definitely.

I had my RS210 crack in the seams from between the flats to the radius'd corner pieces. That was from squeezing 2 basses, an ATA cased PT-3 pedal board, an RS-212 and an RS-210 with music stand and 2 guitar stands with a bag with my RH-450 and a bunch of cables in a Prius. It was rarely from shutting the door against the RS-210 which fits more up front. They are hairline cracks and they do not rattle at all and I gig them twice a week at church at moderate volumes (seats 250) and elsewhere. They are at the natural corner joints between the flat sides tops and bottom, and the bent radius corner pieces. I believe the are all plywood construction. Other than being visible through the finish, I don't believe it has turned structural at this point.

Now for your new purchases, you deserve new units and should not pay for shipping in any direction. You will enjoy your cabinets, that's for sure! I love mine cracks and all. And mine were my fault. Not sure how they are constructed between the joints of the 4 sides and the 4 corners and the front and backs for that matter but mine still are holding together and I would not hesitate to pick up another cabinet either if a deal for another RS-212 came along.

Guess I got lucky when I ordered my two RS210's about 3 weeks apart from two different vendors. They were packed so well within the factory boxes, corner protected with thick foam/cardboard protectors at all eight corners and more. Even the FDX gorillas' couldn't damage them.

I place a small towel between the two cabs as I stack them vertically. And I always place a rubber mat on the floor for the bottom one; plus I bought the TC-E covers for both. Mine still look new at about 1.5 yrs old, I move em around on a folding cart. And they pack a wallop.

Thanks for the info, appreciated. So I guess the "cracks" are from somewhere else as the hardwood (do that say what kind of hardwood?) should be cracking from just normal day-to-day hauling around. Are they actual cracks or perhaps just the outer layer (whatever it is made of) is tearing/delaminating/whatever?

Yeah not sure what the outter coating is and I believe there was a second generation with different outter coat than the first. And with rounded corners, no corner protectors and no rubber feet installed like on most cabs, maybe one should be a little more careful with these cabs than most.
Of course, I load/unload all my own gear into carpeted cargo area of my SUV, from home to gig n back and all have padded covers, so that helps. And I'm just extra careful with all my gear so it stays pretty new looking. Plus, I have like 7 bass cabs and rotate using them for different bands/gigs. So that helps.
These RS210's are really nice for my small stage area gigs as stacking em vert takes no space at all.
Hope OP gets squared away with his cabs eventually.

Sorry to revive an old thread but any updates on these cracks? Have they gotten worse over time or have they caused any difficulties? I just got a great deal on one of these but didn't realize a crack at the corner until way later. I'll post a picture soon but I wanted to know if I should be worried because the exterior still seems pretty solid and nothing budges even around the crack when pressure is applied.

They don't use corner protectors. I'd love to see a pic. What I'd worry about is if the crack was at the glue joint where the plywood meets the radiused hardwood corner. There would be a glue joint from front to back at the junction.
