Hi! Anyone else use this system? After my H Clamp failed me last gig I decided to try something different...

That looks great. My style of playing would I fear make it untenable most of the time for gigs tho. Seems like a good recording setup maybe?

I've been in several recording studios where the engineer miced the bass like this with good results. Sort of need 3 hands to do it.

Paul Serano, one of the great Chicago engineers, used this idea, but with a strap he made. Worked very well. Can't remember the mic he used. Here's a recording we did in the 90's.

My daugther has shown great interest in the double bass

Actually I'm thinking about using it for live, testing it at home once is setup properly it is very reliable, anyway need to give it a try in a real live scenario first

Start um early! My 5yo played a ubass with an endpin in it for a while, and has graduated to a cello with 4ths strings! Strums a little ukulele as well. Trying to introduce him without pushing him.

Just informed by Serrano's assistant that he used a Neumann KM 86.

This is how the Troll mic was/is mounted. It's a great idea that works pretty well especially on low volume gigs.
