**Rugby World Cup 2011**

Certainly not a foreign concept, just historically, league isn't really played in Scotland.

There are a amateur clubs, 13 by my count, that play League, compared to 157 amateur clubs that play Union (which will often have a number of reserve teams too), plus the 2 professional teams. Amateur 7s is quite big, with most union teams competing in 7s tournaments.

I think France played better than the AB's. Certainly not the team that played Wales. I was really on the edge of my seat. Very dramatic and an ugly win for the All Blacks, but probably typical of a World Cup game. Well it's kind of sad the tournament is over. It's been great having all the overseas visitors here.

Mohawk's analysis of the competition was spot on in my view (and Tegzsa's dead wood analysis of the England squad).

I must admit to being resentful of France's place in the final. It was quite incredible to me how a team that was so poor all the way through the competition somehow stumbled it's way into the final. They were dire in the pool games, got through the England game because, poor as France were, England were absolutely and totally pitiful. I still think that Wales were robbed and, but for a couple of kicks that missed by a whisker, would've won against a totally flat France. What is a sin-binning supposed to be worth? 10 minutes of being down to 14 men usually results in a 7 points against the depleted team - under those circumstances, France should have been able to put a bucket full of points past Wales but were lucky to squeal through.

Today, however, they were awesome. Harinordoquy and Dusautoir were immense, Yachvili and Trinh-Duc both played superbly, but my man of the match was Rougerie , who just seemed to be everywhere, they certainly kept me on the edge of my seat and gave me some worrying moments because I was definitely rooting for the AB's - although they could have made it easier for themsleves if they hadn't handed every penalty kick to Weepu.
