Romano Solano Klotz style bass. Fingered C extension. Located in Central Florida. Asking $12,000.
Sorry for asking, but I am really at a mess... Is Solano Klotz a luthier or a company?
Mr. Basilicum, this should help you. Solano is the maker, Klotz is the model of the bass.
Still available. Open to offers.
Price reduced to $11,000.
That is a steal....has to be less than Rumano charged to make it. I have my Solano Klotz insured for $18k.
Do you have any dimensions on the bass?
Bout widths, body length, mensure etc.
That's a pretty tiny mensure for such a huge instrument. There is supposed to be a direct correlation between body length and mensure...
I was just looking at a few Prescotts that were all in that ballpark sizewise.
A Prescott with a 41" mensure? Must have been cut-down. Most of them I've seen have been around 43"
I actually really like the small string length.
What is the rib depth at the neck block?
Why would someone like a small string length? I've found the actual playing difference between 41-42 to be not noticeable if the bass is set-up correctly with a thin neck. The sound difference however between 41-42 is quite huge especially if you want a C-Extension to speak nicely. I'm also 5'6" with small hands and I would never want a bass under 42"
I don't think you guys are making this bass seem very attractive when you talk about alleged shortcomings of a shorter string length. Maybe you could take up this in another thread, in a more appropriate location. I'm sure the bass sounds great, Solano is a fine maker. I also know plenty of folks with smaller hands that would really appreciate the shorter distances. I'm sure you meant no harm but think about the seller.
I am actually praising this feature, and was asking another question because I found this to be a very good bass for the price.
I appreciate your looking after the fellow TBer. I also appreciate the politeness of your post.
You are right about no harm being meant.
6" at the neck block.
All this discussion of mensure vs. sound is pretty much a waste of time since the overall sound of any instrument depends on so many things. I've heard basses with 43" mensure that sound terrible, BTW.
This bass sounds great.
hey im interested...very interested. Could you possibly send me more pictures of the scroll, f-holes, and sides?
Still available, price negotiable.
