Rumble 500

Is there any reason i could not positoon a rumble 500 on its side? I could then stack a blues de ville on top of it.

Nope. It will work fine on its side. The controls will be a PITA to see and adjust, but that's about it

The only thing I would add, is that having it upright means less rumble from the floor surface.

Depending on the situation, it might sound better in some situations upright. Its a complex science and nothing better than trial and error...

If you check here on the link provided you will see many Rumble owners place their 500 Combo's on the side...check the pics and you will see many ways of stacking with various external cabs as well.

OR you could just tell your guitarist to get his own amp stand!

Or, if you are switching instruments back and forth, you might try using the Rumble 500 for guitar! I love the tone my bass amps give my 6-string guitars. It may take some radical re-eq to get some jangly tones you may want, but it could work. Of course, the Rumble wouldn't have the tubeyness of the DeVille, though.
