Running AC Effects with DC

Okay so i know about AC and DC but i also know that putting DC into an AC to DC converter doesnt do anything, so would it be safe to guess at the polarity of the input? The unit in question is an Alesis Nanoverb that has a 9VAC in and i would like to be able to plug it into the Voodo Labs Pedal Power +2 thats coming in the mail. Is there anyone on here whos tried anything similar to this? My only concern really is that theres a transformer or something in there that steps down the AC before converting it and that the DC could fry it. Also i already know about the outlet on the back of the Voodo Labs adapter and want to avoid it. Any responces would be appreciated.

I had an Alesis Midiverb that I bought second hand for my PA rack that was missing the power supply. The power supply for that unit is just a two wire 9Vac wall wart transformer. Since all of the rectification and voltage regulation is inside the processor unit, I was able to power it with a 12Vdc supply with no problems. I didn’t need to be concerned with the polarity of the 12Vdc either.

If you rectify AC you will get DC.

If you rectify DC you will still get DC.

9Vrms is approx 12.5Vdc after rectification.
