RUSH: is this a p bass or rickenbacker?

sometime in 1974 neil peart joined the band rush. in august of that same year, i believe a month after neil had already joined, this live album was recorded.

in the early years, it's sort of up in the air after mid-1974 with regards to whether a rickenbacker or p bass is being played by geddy. all of the debut album is p bass, and during many shows in 1974 you see the jetglo rick. but there's also a bunch of pictures of geddy using his p bass around the same time, a few while neil is already in the band.

which do you think it is?



especially listen to "in the end", follow the track listing in the description. the bass is so prominent in the beginning that it's basically isolated.

I read someplace that the first album was recorded with the P bass.

But this live track here sounds like the Ric

Oh fifth order of angels.
Ok, first off. That was probably the Ric, and the P.
Secondly, Geddy from what I've read didn't run his Ric in stereo early on.
(He was on a quest to acquire the Chris Squier sound, but wasn't sure how to do it)
Without the Ric-o-Sound the bass isn't as unique sounding.
Third, wowzers that's ALOT of treble in his sound.
I'll take a listen later to see if you can discern the P from the Ric.
But yea, a really cool gem, so much raw energy, The Black Crowes x 1000 right there.

side note. Notice in those pictures? He is playing with Ampeg V-4's. Cool

So had a fun time listening to the show. I dont hear that classic P bass sound. What I hear sounds more like two pickups running. It was too early for his teardrop P bass.
I then did some digging. and found these pics from the show. Ric all the way. Just not in Ric-O-Stereo.
Pretty cool.
