Rush Limbaugh and the Rams

I'm sure plenty of the NFL's franchise owners would consider themselves conservatives.

The difference here is - Rush is a douche bag. Like, not just ANY douche bag, but think of a kind of like "Where The Wild Things Are" scenario where he is proclaimed king of the Douchebagistan.

It makes me laugh when I hear Rush bashing away at socialism on a daily bases on his radio show(yes I listen to it almost daily)...yet he wants to be apart of the most socialist program running in the USA. The NFL has a revenue program that works...unlike other sports leagues.

Rush is a racist...period! That would get you many votes from the other owners.

Cheers,
BT

What proof do you have that he is a racist? He is probably the most quoted man in America, so it shouldn't be hard to find it if it's true. Please don't quote left leaning commentaries from the liberal media. They have an agenda to perpetuate that image of him.

Let me get this right. Evidence only counts if it comes from sources you like?

I'm not interested in getting into the "he a racist debate." Those kinds of arguments get old fast. I just think it is odd to tell somebody who they can cite.

For the record, I am not against Rush Limbaugh buying into a team. If he has the money, that should be an option for him. I can just understand the reasoning behind the opposition to him buying in also.

The man has the money, he isn't a criminal and just because he espouses political views (that a sizeable percentage of the country agrees with) he should be stopped from investing money in a team?

Regardless of what I think of his politics, this is wrong.

How do they (media sources) know what's in his heart? It doesn't matter what the source is if it's all opinion. The only way you can possibly know is to listen to what he says or does. So, I'm just asking for a racist quote or action.

I didn't want a racist debate either. My question was sincere because I was researching this myself just yesterday. Brick Top said he was a racist.

He is rich, conservative, and white. He was fat. He is against big government and liberals. He likes cigars. Does that make him a racist? The media uses a stereotype as evidence.

The reasoning behind the opposition to Rush (according to those opposed to him) is that he has a habit of making racially insensitive comments. There are no other reasons given.

To me this has a couple of different interpretations.

1) He is a racist and his comments betray this.
2) He is not a racist, but his comments are insensitive.

The fact that there have been widely quoted comments in the press that are clearly racist is important - particularly since Rush has denied that he ever said them and has threatened lawsuits against those printing and broadcasting them - and there seems to be no basis in fact for the quotes being genuine. I heard two obviously racist quotes attributed to Rush on news stations and I read them on the network news websites all weekend long and now it appears that they are entirely bogus quotes.

I'm not so much troubled by the NFL owners (which is an exclusive private club that pretty much makes it's own rules about who it wants to include) voting to keep him from being an owner if they think that his political opinions make him too "controversial" and will hurt their "Image". I will just think they are a bunch of hypocrites for their ethical posturing - It's ALL about money and how much they can make. What I am troubled about is the fact that a person can have lies made up about him and be labeled a racist just because of his political ideology.

If you listen to him "almost daily" then you wouldn't be saying he is a racist.

And that's what he whole flap is about. The accusation that Rush is a racist. If anyone can come up with a legitimate quote from Rush that reveals him to be a racist I would like to see it. I'm skeptical that it can be done.

Here's where disagree. I don't see how the NFL truly cares one iota about their image when dollar signs are involved. The current crop of criminals (not mentioning any names) allowed to collect their massive paychecks despite their repeat and/or heinous crimes reflects this, in my eyes.

A popularly held view, and a lot of truth to it. Until Limbaugh says it on the air. Then it's racist.

The hypocrisy.

I think pushing the "can you prove he's racist" argument will do nothing but get this thread closed. I think it is enough to say that he is polarizing very unpopular in many quarters.

At the same time, he has 20 million regular listeners too.

That doesn't make much sense to me. Rush is not simply unpopular, the great majority of African Americans find him very offensive. .

Doctor, being African American yourself, please help those of us who are not understand, what has Rush Limbaugh done or said that makes you uncomfortable and draws all the racist accusations. I have listened to his show frequently over the years, and, even at my most sensitive, I can't figure out what he's doing to earn that label.

I have heard Limbaugh, on many occasions, celebrate the sovereign privileges and equality that ALL races born in the USA enjoy, and encouraging ALL races born here to be motivated to take advantage of those opportunites through embetterment and by being productive members of society.

What has he done or said? I want quotes, not emotions, please.
