Rush Limbaugh and the Rams

How do they (media sources) know what's in his heart? It doesn't matter what the source is if it's all opinion. The only way you can possibly know is to listen to what he says or does. So, I'm just asking for a racist quote or action.

"In Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering."

"Obama's entire economic program is reparations."

"Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican-American actress Halle Berry." Limbaugh then said: " 'As a Halfrican-American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry's support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans,' Obama said." Limbaugh then conceded that Obama "didn't say it."

"Obama has disowned his white half ... he's decided he's got to go all in on the black side."

Singing "Barack, the Magic Negro" to the tune of "Puff, the Magic Dragon."

Talking about US intervention with Somali pirates: "if only President Obama had known that the three Somali community organizers were actually young, black Muslim teenagers, I'm sure he wouldn't have given the order to shoot."

"It's -- you know, it's just -- it's just we can't hit the girl. I don't care how far feminism's saying, you can't hit the girl, and you can't -- you can't criticize the little black man-child. You just can't do it, 'cause it's just not right, It's not fair. He's such a victim."

"They're members of the minority. Don't ever forget that this is the case. Minorities, victims, members of groups, are allowed to do anything to address their grievances and to get noticed, because ... they're so oppressed."

"Look it, let me put it to you this way. The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There I said it."

Democrats "want to get us out of Iraq, but they can't wait to get us into Darfur." He continued: "There are two reasons. What color is the skin of the people in Darfur? It's black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they're in trouble." A caller responded, "The black population," to which Limbaugh said, "Right."

Is this a publicity stunt? Another tweak of the powers that be? That would be the old Rush.

But,

Is he trying to buy respectibility with his millions; dollars that IMHO are tainted by the rhetoric that he used in acquiring it? If you have made a career out of not caring what anyone thinks (and trying hard to tick off a majority of people), why be worried (or surprised or hurt) that a bunch of rich guys might not let you into their club? That is a different Rush.
I think Rush needs a hug.

Rush- "You just gotta be who you are, and I think it's time to get rid of this whole National Basketball Association. Call it the TBA, the Thug Basketball Association, and stop calling them teams. Call 'em gangs. You have the Laker Gang, you have the Heat Gang, you have a Timberwolf Gang [distortions of official team names], and let 'em strap up out there, and let 'em market their CDs. Instead of selling concessions, sell CDs out there at the concession stand." Limbaugh later adds, "They're going in to watch the Crips and the Bloods out there wherever the neighborhood is where the arena happens to be, and be who you are."

Maybe not straight up racist name calling, but certainly inflammatory. IMHO.

Not even remotely racist. Indeed, a popular view held by millions of people of all races in this country.

That doesn't make much sense to me. Rush is not simply unpopular, the great majority of African Americans find him very offensive.

That said, being liked by people is a different issue from having money to buy a team.

I'm sure a lot of white Americans are not big fans of Jay-Z either, and some of his "music" has been misogynistic, insensitive toward women and promotes gang violence. He was even convicted for his involvement in a stabbing incident of another rapper. But that didn't stop the NBA from allowing him to buy into the NJ Nets.

I do agree with you, I don't think someones political views should have anything to do with them buying into a team.

Before this thread gets shut down, the "Barack, the Magic Negro" needs to be explained to people that don't listen to the show. That song was a parody about an article written by David Ehrenstein's in the Los Angeles Times. The title of the article was "Obama the 'Magic Negro'". The song is about this article:

David Ehrenstein is African-American.

Excellent point, very indicative of the double-standard.

What proof do you have that he is a racist? He is probably the most quoted man in America, so it shouldn't be hard to find it if it's true. Please don't quote left leaning commentaries from the liberal media. They have an agenda to perpetuate that image of him.

Like I stated...I DO listen to his radio show. Mostly for a good laugh....but still irritating at times. Since Obama has become president...his remarks to my ears have had a very racial negative tone. The most recent being that we should go back to racial segregated buses. "We need segregated buses -- it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama's America."

There are many other quotes out there...but some or maybe all have been made up...so I won't go there. The above quote I heard for myself.

But you go ahead and believe what you like....I listen...and I form my own opinion.

Cheers,
BT

This thread won't get shut down - why should it?
It's full of pc liberalism and race politics.
I couldn't give a crap is Limbaugh gets an NFL team or not. If politics prevents him from getting one, whoopie do. He made it rich making sport of politics. So much irony.
Re NFL owners, at that level and in those circles it's not exactly a free market. If the league allows itself to be pushed around by the likes of Jessie Jackson or wants to kiss the butt of anyone dumb enough to listen to him then Limbaugh is a pathetic football wannabe to join that bs scene.

I guess I shouldn't have asked for examples, because now I have to try and explain them all! :o

That comment was taken out of context. If you really want to understand what he was saying, go here:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

If not, go on with your opinion. :hmm:

edit: Actually, that link does not really explain what Rush was trying to say.

Ya know, there was a time when the term "racism" had a defined, coherent meaning. It denoted the assertion of superiority of one race over another. It denoted the alleged inferior race did not have the same rights and privileges as the superior race. It denotes segregation and oppresion. Racism, in its objective and original meaning, is a horrible thing.

Observations and commentary are NOT necessarily racism.

And Rush Limbaugh has to be the most mis-quoted, out-of-context quoted man in America. I have to chalk it up to people who just don't like him, his personality, his politics, whatever, looking for a cheap way to hit back.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard Limbaugh celebrate the potential and equality of ALL races, and how important it is for ALL races to take full advantage of the rights, liberties, and opportunities afforded them by The Constitution and governing laws. He doesn't have much patience for slackers and career victims, that is true. He doesn't have patience for the gangsta mentality. He highlights the double-standards in this country that actually sow the seeds of racial unrest. But racist? Sorry, that's not an objective observation, it is retaliatory and unrealistic.

The most recent being that we should go back to racial segregated buses. "We need segregated buses -- it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama's America."

Rush uses a lot of satire which can easily be misunderstood. Rush was trying sensationalize a point and was poking fun at anti-white racism. This is was about the Illinois incident where the one white kid was beat up by a group of black kids, while everyone else on the bus was cheering. The police said that racism was not involved. I'm guessing that Rush was trying to point out that this is a form of segregation which is tolerated today. He wasn't really calling for segregated buses!

This is was about the Illinois incident where the one white kid was beat up by a group of black kids, while everyone else on the bus was cheering.

Can you imagine the collective reaction if the colors were reversed in that situation? Out of control hysterics, we've seen it before. But it was a white kid, so, no harm no foul?

And let's face it, following so closely on the heels of the black professor and white cop being invited to the White House for a beer and a mini-lecture on race relations, this kind of thing demands commentary of some sort.

A lot of media outlets don't have the stomach for it, probably out of fear. Because Rush Limbaugh faces these things head-on doesn't make him a racist.

It's really gotten out of control. Kind of like the word "rape," which once had a defined meaning. Now, it seems to include a woman who had consensual sex but changed her mind later.
