Rush: Roll the Bones R40 tour in Toronto

Rush released this on their youtube channel today. I'm digging Geddy's tone in this.

All these decades...I'm finally on the Rush train. All it took was a TB thread (Why Women Don't Connect w/ Rush) & a suggestion to watch their Docu on Netflix.

Anyway, been OD-ing on Rush...pretty much all "recent" stuff/2000s (a rarity: Rush has gotten better with time. Most '70s bands played their best 40 years ago).

So, it's pretty much been all Fender Jazz until...now-
I'm looking at YT footage of "Roll The Bones" (Rush R40 ACC Toronto 17 June 2015)...Glee is playing Fender P-bass?

Still sounds like him in a live setting.

His main bass these days is a Jazz, but on the R40 tour he took like 15 basses from his collection out with him and switched like every two songs or so. When I saw them he played 3 different Rickenbackers, including the doubleneck, he played a T-bird and a Les Paul bass, and 1 or 2 P-basses along with his Jazzes.

I guess even Geddy feels the need to justify his GAS and bass-hording tendencies LOL. He'd fit in well on TB.

Did Lee play Jaco/Fender basses?

As far as I know he played a Jaco only on one song, Malignant Narcissism on the 2007 album Snakes and Arrows. I don't think he brought it on the R40 tour.

This is a bit like posting on a silent movie website, "Didn't Charlie Chaplin have a hat and cane?"

Geddy has played all manner of basses but is most often associated with the Fender Jazz.

He does indeed own a Jaco tribute and it is sometimes to be found in his rack, as he exhibits in this video.

I think I know about Lee's use of Fender Jazz basses & The Geddy Lee Signature Model (I know local Funk/R&B guys that use one as their bass of choice).
I was talking about the Jaco tribute bass (fretted & fretless)...IIRC, I read about Lee having these in an old Bass Player. It just seemed to be an odd choice at the time.
But whadda I know...

It's not the end for them, but it might be the end of tours like that.

By the way, as I understand it, many of the basses Geddy is using on this current tour are recent acquisitions.
Apparently he dove into collecting in a big way, and his is a savvy business move: To play so many guitars on tour makes each one of them a deductible business tool which can be depreciated on an income tax schedule, rather than simply an expensive, non-deductible luxury item.
