Obviously, it makes sense to give super-fans all the DVDs they can eat. After all, super-fans acquire it by other means if it is not on the official menu.
The problems arise for the casual fan, who simply doesn't have time to consume the abundant feast now being served up. By point of comparison,
why did Jimmy Page not empty the Zep vault 25 years ago? I could have used a couple decades to sort through the material at my leisure. But now that
everyone is doing a "tape dump," it is overload from every quarter.
My favorite Zappa material is the "Shut Up And Play Your Guitar" stuff, all of which is sans vocals (and comedy). A Rush instrumental album is a capital idea.
