Rush vs Triumph vs Yes

I heard Alex L. was quoted once that after they all went to see YES perform, they didn't want to go on stage the next night! lol! He was kind of kidding, but Geddy Lee has said numerous times that he was a huge Chris Squire/YES fan and his choice of the Rickenbacker 4001 had a lot to do with the fact the Squire played one, and he also really liked the sound Squire got with it on the YES recordings.

I have to say RUSH. I haven't heard anything from Triumph in years, I saw them at the 83 US festival. I got in an argument in my body shop class the monday after that show. I said Triumph was the best band at that show Vs Motley crew and drunk van halen. I think I might have got my aXX kicked. Might have been the sun burn....But thanks for the poll, I just googled triumph and found they released that US 83 show and now I'm reliving my youth on youtube.

Rush is my favorite band, by far, but I also like Yes and Triumph.

I wouldn't normally compare the three. You can certainly hear the influence Yes had on 70's Rush material, but taking into account their entire catalog, Rush seems to be more hard rock with prog elements rather then a pure prog group. YMMV of course. Triumph really doesn't fit into this except they were a Canadian trio, other than that they were pretty much a hard rock band, though a damn good one IMHO.

I always wanted to see Triumph live, but they broke up right around the time I started getting into them. I did see Rik Emmett on a solo tour. Funny thing, they played "Fight the Good Fight" and a fight broke out on the floor. He stopped the show and asked the combatants to break it up, and then started up the show again.

I would have loved to have gone to that show, I've watched the footage on Youtube a few times. Of course, I was 11 and had just moved from Anaheim to Massachusetts, so it wasn't going to happen.

I think Rush is the best band of the three. I like Triumph a lot too. Have never liked Yes. Mainly because I don't like Jon Anderson's voice.

For me, it's Yes. An incredibly innovative catalogue that really came about in a short period and with extraordinary vocals and fantastical lyrics.

Starship Trooper & Heart of The Sunrise, And You And I...so many fine songs & records.

I haven't heard enough inside Rush music to say really. I like their overtly commercial stuff but Yes' heyday was before stadium-video-overtly commercialized promotion.

Interesting that Rush have managed with the same 3 guys for most of their career,while Yes has had something
like 22 different musicians over the years...it has made for some interesting variety in their music. I love me some Rush,but Yes is by far my favorite Band,period. I really don't have anything against Triumph,but they are not in the same league as the other 2 bands.

I'm a big Rush fan and Yes. Like Joe Nerve said, Yes is from the soul. Seeing Yes in concert was one of my best memories.

Yes, by far. Yes, their album Relayer and its subsequent 1974-75-76 tour planted the seed for Rush's brief dabbling with progish output. All three Rush members have been quoted as saying that tour inspired them to better themselves as musicians and shows particularly on Hemispheres, an album which faintly resembles Relayer in it's layout and song arrangement.
Both bands rock mightily but Yes are the champions. With that being said, Rush will totally take in the most votes because their music is more accessible and much more easily digested.
Triumph? Meh.
