Rush's RRHOF Acceptance Speech

I thought it was perfect. Not only mocked the RRHOF, but the whole award acceptance process and the fact they every speech is basically the same. And went from funny, to long and slightly uncomfortable, to sticking with it so long that it became funny again. Brilliant stuff.
Also thought Grohl did a good job on the whole thing.

I always find the panderers, espousing the "low class", "a bit much", "take the high road", "rise above" rhetoric to just be casual listeners of Rush. Fans of the band knew this was coming before they were ever nominated.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks or how twisted their knickers get.....It happened, was hilarious to the majority, and a minority will spew their displeasure. Things Occur!

Actually, if you read or listen to the star news "uncensored" Rush interview and biography done after the awards, Geddy says they were kind of surprised, but it was classic Alex.

I was actually offended more by Neil and Geddy taking the high road with their speeches, although upon reflection I think Neil was just trying to subtly illustrate how ludicrous it all is with his extra flowery and fluffy phrases and waxing poetic about it.

Alex responded the way the RRHOF deserved and in a way everyone could understand.

Really? Having seen the last few tours, I think the Geddy's voice is sounding great. Sure he doesn't hit some of those high note anymore, but very few artist will push their voices to hit those highest notes night after night while on a two year long tour. You come up with ways of rephrasing lines that saves those vocal cords. IMO, the boys are sounding better than ever live!

Taylor Hawkins shuffling awkwardly on the side was very awkward though.

Taylor spoke too. I am not against cursing per se, but too much of it and it just seems out of place. Taylor was dropping too many F bombs for my liking in that particular circumstance. Dave was more tasteful in his placement.

Although, you could tell both were very excited to be up there honouring them.

Even Alex is doing a great job supporting Geddy with backing vox. They sound great!
