Rust removal on my pick-ups...

The screws should be easy to replace with new ones. Any good hardware store should have them.

As for the polepieces, they might be cleaned with a dremel tool. But chances are you'll never get them to bright metal.

Those strings are crap. What did you do with the bass? Leave it in your shower?

If the pups and strings are this bad, what about the bridge, the frets, and the tuners?
 
Use Oxy Clean... wait, never mind. Use WD-40 and some paper towels/cotton swabs. Replace the screws, like the above comments suggested. I'd be wary about taking a dremel to it, unless you use one of the cloth buffing attachments. Trying to use a wire brush or a grinder would inevitably result in at least some pickup cover scuffing.
