Hi everyone, I have an odd problem that I just can’t get my head around. Ive just bought a secondhand rusty box in pristine condition. It’s the centre positive power version and sounds amazing, but....the second I put anything in front (compressor, envelope, tuner) the signal cuts out. I’ve tried various cables/buffered vs true bypass/power options (powering the preceding pedals separately) but nothing seems to work. I’m stumped....I’m hoping someone can offer some suggestions and yes, I’m quite prepared for the answer to be embarrassing. Thanks in advance!

when you say “cuts out” does it clip or does it not make any sound at all?

No sound at all. There’s not even a faint signal when everything’s cranked.

So bass -> Rusty -> amp is totally fine and the second you make it bass -> any effect -> rusty -> amp you have no sound?

And you said you tried different cables? Everything powered right? Very strange. It’s gotta be something dumb.

Yeah, it’s bound to be something simple, stupid or obvious but I just can’t work it out.

  6. Got this sorted yet?

Hi, I have thanks but not how I’d have liked. So the RB has gone back to the shop...there was nothing wrong with it other than I couldn’t use/power it properly with my setup. Being a centre negative/30v model it really needs to be run on an isolated supply, and where I though mine was it isn’t. I spoke to the guys at Tronographic who confirmed this. After asking they said the 9v model should solve my issues, just beware of noise from a non isolated supply. Luckily my supply might not be isolated (even thought the manual says otherwise) but it is a battery so there’s no risk of added hum or noise. Sorry that was a bit long winded but in short, yes I got this resolved and I may be making a newer purchase in the future.
